The account was attacked by GC people because they believed the murdered woman was trans. Members on this board shared it to amplify the attacks. They didn't care about this woman - they just saw a trans person being murdered and decided it was fair game. The fact that she wasn't trans didn't matter to them - she wasn't sufficiently feminine enough for their liking. The hypocrisy is vile.

If this is true, and members of this site amped up the attacks on this woman while mods allowed it, it's seriously disgusting.

It's all going too far. You need to rethink your guidelines on this.

Or just dont enocursge the harassment of a murdered woman and her family because you and your mates think she's trans. That's not being kind, it's just not being a fucking monster.

Balls. What you call harassment is nothing compared to what GC women have had to endure for years at the hands for trans activists. Tweeting? Boo hoo.

Id say encouraging the abuse of a murdered woman, and in turn her family, is harassment. Even if you thought the person was trans. Even if they are trans.

Encouraging abuse? Really?

Yes.

Please do share examples of these awful acts. I haven't seen anything other than stating a difference of opinion.

Theunamedcat · 15/10/2026 08:06

In what way did people encourage abuse?

Information about the murder victim was shared on the site to drive more users over to harass the murder victim. The fact that anyone thinks this site is a worthy home for that kind of thing is indicative of the culture here.

I always find the "be kind" mantra interesting.

On a simplistic surface level what could be wrong with "being kind".

But with all such left / liberal mantras the problem is the reality of it in practice.

What it means in reality is "I want you to be kind to my views / interests whereas I really don't care about your views/ interests and if you raise your views/ interests then you are a bad person ".

For example it would "be kind" to allow a trans woman/ girl to participate in say an athletics competition" but it would be cruel and unkind to all those women/ girls who have put in hours of training and effort only to lose against a biologically stronger male.

It was "kind" of the RAF to positively discriminate in favour of 161 female and ethnic minority candidates but unkind to the at least 31 white male candidates were unlawfully delayed or pushed back in the recruitment pipeline, despite having already passed all entry requirements on merit.

So it has absolutely nothing to do with "being kind" and everything to do with "I'm right, you're wrong and I'm going to shut down your opinion as unkind and nasty".

I agree, it wasn't MNs finest hour.

I'm gender critical but the insistence that women can always spot a man is, in my opinion, both incorrect and insults women who are less feminine looking than others.

The case you mention is the extreme end of that.

INeedAnotherName · 15/10/2026 08:40

I thought ONE person posted it and the remainder of the posts condemned that ONE poster before it got deleted?

You can't blame the whole place for ONE person who may or may not have been a regular poster.

The murder victim is dead. She cannot be harassed any more.

You are using this murder victim to shut women up about male violence.

I didn't see the thread and I'm glad it was deleted quickly, but my point still stands about what is being said at the extreme end of the gender critical movement about identifying men presenting as women.

The 'gender critical movement' isnt a movement.

All sorts of people know that biological sex is real.

Left wing people, right wing people. Nice people, nasty people.

You cannot control what people think.

You guys really just need to get over this.

If this is true, and members of this site amped up the attacks on this woman while mods allowed it, it's seriously disgusting.

If - so you have no idea if this is true or not and no evidence to prove the veracity of it.

Your prejudice against the FWR S&G Board and members thereof and beliefs that are not in line with your own is the sole reason for you starting this thread.

Shedmistress · 15/10/2026 09:18

It is interesting the differences on 'both sides'.

One person posts a link, suposedly 'GC', one other 'GC' says it is in bad taste and the thread is very quickly deleted, but that's not enough. A poster starts another thread calling out the original thread and then another thread appears on site stuff calling out the original thread and saying 'the GC thing' has gone 'too far'.

Meanwhile, for 10 years, the people who are very keen on puberty blockers, cross sex hormones, and sterilising and mutilating kids get free reign to report anyone and everyone, from twitter without even being a registered user on here, are allowed to continually name call, bully, cross post to Reddit, and generally post hundreds upon hundreds of posts on threads which are total and utter garbled nonsense which sidetracks, obfuscates, and in general makes people respond to counteract their utter nonsense thus using up all the posts on threads that after half an hour bear no resemblance to the actual thread title, come back time after time, renamed with the same arguments year after year. And nobody posts on site stuff that the 'keen on sterilising kids' people have 'gone too far'.

And who wins? Men who want to be in women's spaces. That is who wins.

MoistVonL · 15/10/2026 09:46

Your obsession with shutting down FWR is unhealthy.

One user out of millions posted something unacceptable; subsequent users told them it was unacceptable; MN mods agreed and removed it.

That this makes you think GC Mumsnetters are responsible to nastiness on Musk's Twitter hellscape is just bonkers.

If FWR bothers you that much, just mute it. It's not required reading.
