New or split board request ( republican board )

Dear mn it has become clear lately that it might be good if the royal family board could be split into royal chat and republican chat , it seems a lot of republicans don’t feel welcome and obviously other members are not enjoying having to field questions that are not the topic they are discussing.
I really believe that this would be a solution that could please everyone.

That didn’t come across right! I mean your reasons make sense and are a bummer.

But someone taking a name so similar to a regular poster is confusing and not for the same reason, perhaps.

@NewAchievement If we got to know your views under this name then someone came along as NewAchievement1 and started posting opposing views on the same thread in a recognizable but obtuse voice, more than one poster would be a little confused. That’s all that happened here.

Many of posters are changing user names frequently now for similar reasons to your own, apparently. 😔

Yes. This is exactly what happened.

I CBA to RTFT but going just by the OP…what a strange suggestion.

It would be like splitting S&B into sub-boards for those who want to discuss trouser suits or sandals v those who dislike those things. Or dividing Chicken Keepers into enthusiasts and enquirers on one sub-topic and people who hate chickens on another.

Surely the norm would be to have boards for people with an interest in the headline subject and Chat and AIBU for threads challenging the subject.

Dogs is a good example. There are innumerable threads on the Dog House about all things doggy. But there are very, very many posters who cannot bear dogs. There doesn’t need to be a sub-board on the Dog House for anti-dog posters. They come up in general threads.

It was not strange in the context of people trying to turn threads about the antics of Harry and Meghan into debates about the monarchy, the duchies, tax laws, inheritance laws and then saying they felt unwelcome and attacked when posters were uninterested or unwilling to engage.

It could make sense to divide the two things - royal gossip, fashion, etc from more serious discussion about the future of the monarchy. But as Becky has said it’s unnecessary.
