Hi there @Ahsheeit. Thanks for getting in touch. We'll happily take a look at this but will need a bit more information. If possible, the quickest way for us to find an ad like that is if you could click on it and give us the url. If not, any more info would be really helpful, such as the name of the company advertising, which page of the site you were on when you saw it etc. Also, we can see a cross in the top right hand corner to close it. Can we ask if you tried clicking that and if it closed easily or not when you did so?

HebeMumsnet · 08/10/2025 09:44

Hi again @Ahsheeit. Ignore the above. We've managed to track this one down. It is working as it should. It's an interscroller format type ad, so if you just keep scrolling, it should disappear. Hope that helps!

It doesn’t - you have to keep clicking it away.

PrioritisePleasure24 · 11/10/2025 06:28

There’s a cross country one appearing all over the bloody site. You can click the cross and scroll but it reappears. The repeats on a different thread or even a section menu, like AIBU. Reading this sounds like they are approved ones which are again ruining the experience of the reader.

applegingermint · 11/10/2025 06:50

It’s the National Account Switching Service ad. It’s annoying and makes mumsnet unusable on a phone browser (iOS using Chrome).

This site is a joke. Ads and the UX are so poorly integrated that it functions like it’s a hobby site set up with Wordpress, not a £££ business.

Moochingallday · 11/10/2025 07:08

So Many Adverts!!
As a very very long term user the sudden increase in volume of adverts and size and format is a dramatic change to the site.
I agree with the PP - the site lacks refinement - it's like they have all been thrown on the site rather than integrated with the user experience.
They annoy and interupt this experience, rather than flow.

BeckyAMumsnet · 11/10/2025 16:57

@JJZ thanks for posting. Can we ask that if you see this ad again, please try and get a screen recording of you scrolling. That will help us figure out why it's not behaving as intended.

I agree. I have used the site for over a decade and they are so distracting. Sadly I cannot afford the fee to make them go away. Just another poor tax I guess.

RightOnTheEdge · 12/10/2025 01:03

This site has been absolutely ruined with adverts.

There's the one across the top flashing, the massive full screen video that takes up the whole screen and if you click it off or scroll past I can read about two posts before it's back again, then there's the normal big adverts in the middle of the thread as well.

It's like trying to read one of those shit click bait articles on FB that are totally obscured by adverts.

TherapyMe · 12/10/2025 06:51

yhe account switching advert with that twat dancing around dressed like a cowboy is really ruining my experience of the site and has been for weeks. Sort it out MN!!

Rozendantz · 12/10/2025 06:57

Are these ads still going on? I (and a load of other people) reported this a couple of months ago! They weren't resolved, and someone helpfully said to use Duckduckgo instead - and all the ads magically went away, it was/is marvellous! To all the people posting here, try it, it's great...

Thanks - just downloaded DuckDuckGo and it’s so much better!

@BeckyAMumsnet turns out there is a way to cut off your nose to spite your face. I didn’t mind the ads until they made the site unusable.

Moochingallday · 12/10/2025 11:58

I've downloaded it too - lots of grey boxes where the adverts are still but no flashing which is a joy - makes it really clear just how much of each post is adverts now!

TequilaNights · 13/10/2025 01:02

I'm getting this tonight, a prostate cancer full white page making the site even more unusable, adverts everywhere.

Android - Chrome- won't be clicking random pop up adverts to get url.

Edit - this is not a scrolling advert, as you can see from screen shot - advert too big for the screen, no way to remove it unless you navigate away from the page you are on.

Yes I'm having the same issue.

allyjay · 13/10/2025 01:32

@HebeMumsnet this keeps coming up on my screen as I'm trying read a thread. Almost blank except for some writing at the top, and no means of clicking off it. I end up having to come off the thread and then click back into it. At which point mere seconds later it pops back up. What's going on?

Try a free ad free browser app for using MN. It makes a huge difference. Another poster on another thread about these adverts being everywhere all the time suggested one called DuckDuckGo so I’m using that, but others must be available too.

Me too! Blank screen, bit of large writing at the top, no x to close it down so have to back-button away from the page I was interested in. I'm bored with it so off to reliable Instagram for a bit!

GinLimeandLemonade · 13/10/2025 08:02

Samsung, using Chrome browser. Extremely annoying 🙃 Taken me 5 minutes to post this 😂 Made a screen recording but no way to post that here.

My latest was a blank white screen with some large letters at the top about prostate cancer (no x to escape) grrrr.

I've got something about supply chains...

Same for me, using chrome on a google pixel. Big white ad covering screen, nowhere to click off. Making the site unusable but luckily this thread doesn't have the ad on!

Seeline · 13/10/2025 09:10

Keep getting on the mobile site (chrome, miti phone).
There is no cross to click. I can't tell you what the ad is for - it's impossible to read.
I am left with the bottom centimeter of screen to read the thread. It has happened numerous times in the last 15 minutes, in a variety of threads.

Yet another issue making MN impossible to use!

Please click on the image - it's not completely blank!!

feellikeanalien · 13/10/2025 09:14

I'm getting it too. A blank white screen with a few words at the top about walks in Wales or Elizabeth Arden. No way of getting rid of it without coming out of the page. I'm on my android phone on the Chrome browser. I'm now giving up because it's too infuriating.
