Disabled private messages

Are pms disabled for everyone, or just me? Anyone know why?

Well, yes, that’s the obvious answer but clearly, there are posters who did open them despite not knowing the sender or where the links were taking them, and there always will be those who will click on these things.

Nope, it was links. The photos that were sent as links that opened/previewed automatically were sent on the main board. Photos cannot be, and never have been, sent via PM.

It’s really unwise to open a link that has been randomly sent to you.

Hopefully they can soon be restored with all protections in place.

They were on a thread where the conversation was such that someone could legitimately have sent them links.

I think it is really easy to think that we ourselves wouldn't be caught out when in the right circumstances we probably could.

Yes, I saw one poster who viewed the links saying they thought it was something relating to the thread they had posted.

I’m with you, unfortunately. This thread has been ignored since the end of last week, with no further updates. Think they are hoping we forget PMs existed if they leave it long enough.

I’ve been testing the new app for a few months and no, you can’t PM on it. You can vote and do a few other things, but you can’t PM or see other notifications.

More people would use the app if it was completely multi functional.

I always swap email address eventually with my “PM pals”, so we don’t lose contact. I don’t recommend this if you’re not sure about someone of course, and I only use a general (no names) email address anyway.

It’s nice to check in on people.
It’s sad that a few bad ‘uns spoil it for other people.

I'm properly fed up of this now. Years of messaging, multiple times a day and it's just been stopped, with no warning, without any way of keeping in touch. 😭

Two weeks and counting! Surely if the measures were available, they could have been put in place and tested by now?
