Wrt to books, 'Breast is Best' by the Drs Stanway was my lifeline. When I had ds1 in 1975 bf advice was still of the 'two mins on each side every four hrs' variety so, unsurprisingly by 3wks ds was on formula. B-is-B was a revelation to me, explaining the science behind bfing and giving me the encouragement to give it another go with my next baby.

sue did your mum bf? My mum actually passed a book onto me but I cant remember who wrote it but she said dont read the bf stuff! She fed me and sarah successfully but my gran is a very passionate (and agressive!)past breastfeeder and she said she had to ignore ALL of the advice from anyone at the time apart from gran (this was 77)

Just need to say as have seen it on this thread a couple of times..... "milk running out" being a myth. It does happen. Mine did with my 1st, when she was 3 months old, exclusive BF, it disappeared over night. She was admitted to hospital with severe dehydration three days later. NCT support agreed, my milk had gone completely.

I went on to successfully BF 2 more children (one for over a year) and express for 3 months for my 4th

Back on topic, the Nestle boycott has been going on for about 20 years hasn't it? Do they still have the same practices of going into developing countries as they did when the boycott started?
