Do you use it? If you do - how do you find it? What works, what doesn't ? Is there anything (here we go, nice ham blah blah) you like us to add/ we could do to make it better?

Thanks,
MNHQ

ps if you haven't used it yet here are some tips on getting started

i used it until i realised it didn't come up in active convos so no one ever saw what i was posting.

used2bthin · 23/04/2008 22:15

I can't find mine anymore??? It used to be on the topic list after I logged on but now doesn't seem to be.

vonsudenfed · 23/04/2008 22:17

my mumsnet local is a) pretty quiet and b) not very local - it's bath, and I live a good half hour's drive away. But still, serves me right for living in the sticks.

mshadowsisfab · 23/04/2008 22:20

I had a look and posted but didn't get a reply. tbh it is full of adverts.

me too!
would also like a meet-a-mum board tbh. a friend of mine visited mn and was put off by the local board.

annemarie29 · 23/04/2008 22:21

it needs to show on active convos really.

harpomarx · 23/04/2008 22:22

only looked at mine once or twice, had some wrong info on the listings i think.

but i don't use mumsnet to meet local mums but rather to enjoy a bit of anonymity!

Mine is quiet and aimed at our big City. We are 20 miles away and have a Thriving Mums and Toddlers community that is ignored.

I am more than happy to post some listings as a Tsar if you want. Please contact me if you want.

PillockOfTheCommunity · 23/04/2008 22:35

I started to try and get people in Suffolk interested again, but they're a shy bunch anyway and with it not showing in Active convos (I did raise this with the Tech-y types and they said they would look into it) I've got very little hope of getting anyone over there

I have also found that when they did appear in active convos I had to keep bumping the threads so people saw them. Is there some way of fixing it so the Local threads appear at the top if you are part of that area?

callmeovercautious · 23/04/2008 22:35

OMG terrible Grammar

NickiSue · 23/04/2008 22:45

Mines York which is about 50mins away and pretty dead last time I looked,

1dilemma · 23/04/2008 22:50

DOn't really use it but I wish you would put back the recommended tradespersons!

Poledra · 23/04/2008 22:56

Don't use it as I like my anonymity here - I don't want anyone to know who I am in RL.

pinkteddy · 23/04/2008 22:57

Used it a couple of times but its not got enough information that's local to me, it covers too wide an area.

popmum · 23/04/2008 23:02

yes mine is not local enough for me - I am outside M25 and the local is enfield - I never go there so no interest in that area.

BirdyArms · 23/04/2008 23:05

Chat is too quiet to be interesting. I think that they should appear on active convos, I know they wouldn't be relevant to a lot of people but maybe we would be reminded that the local boards exist - then everyone would start using them and it would become annoying to have them in active convos and you'd have to revert!

I am sceptical as to how accurate the listings are - I know some near me have not always been and have corrected a couple. Would be good is local tsars could try to make sure that there were contact numbers/ website on them all so that people could check the details for themselves eg call to check the time of a toddler group. Also it would be good is there were more comments in the listing, ie is it any good - I wonder if people sometimes add a listing to enter a competition, can add listings anonymously, so not really much incentive to make sure that the details are correct or that the activity etc is any good.
