Can you please pull the thread ? It's turning into Nicola bully all over again. Alot of people are being sincere but there are some absolutely awful comments and I am shocked it is still standing.
Some people are really getting kicks out of this horrible situation, this lad has a family.
Armchair detectives, trolls etc it really needs to go Mumsnet.

It's human nature to gossip and speculate. Always has been.
You don't have to read it, although you obviously have because you know what was in it

Did you read some of the comments and user names?

I'm galloping in on my high horse now but I hate all the 'you don't have to open the thread' bollocks that is so often used as a defence on here. My opinion might be wrong after all but I am allowed to go against the grain.

Yet you've started another thread about.

Which has finally got the thread deleted, as was the main purpose of this thread.

Glad it's gone. The mirth and glee really took over by the end of it. Some people could stand to take a look at their own lack of humanity.

Vittuunterroristit · 21/06/2024 23:13

They'll be back to get their rocks off next time there's a missing person story in the news.

I don’t think it’s normal to treat situations like this as entertainment.

firstly i agree , people can be omg, that said on the flip side of the coin and part of democracy, how can we justify all the news papers covering it and the speculation in the papers ?

There is something called freedom of speech. Just because you don't like something said by another person that means you should call for banning them.

I haven't read the thread but I don't like the concept of thought police.

vacay · 22/06/2024 00:22

Copied from the latest thread -

I did not know about the machete attack.
In light of this discovery, I am glad that this human being is now pushing up daisies. Justice has been served.
In regards to what his family are going through now, I don't make it my business to worry about the feelings coming from families of murderers.

It's these kind of comments...
Jesus Christ people have some bloody respect for his family.

If you did you would maybe understand why it needed to go. It was disgusting

@vacay the other poster doesn't understand anything. They are the author of the post below you've copied z

I've reported and agree the other thread needs to go too. Vile @LilyMumsnet

Lou670 · 22/06/2024 08:40

I hope he is found soon if only to give his Mum some closure. He is unlikely to be still alive after all this time and my thoughts go out to his family that are going through agony. I do understand why some people have posted in anger towards him given his history. Seems he is not the lovely and popular boy his Mum is portraying him as, nevertheless he is someone's son and he needs to be found.

ChockysChimichanga · 22/06/2024 10:13

There’s yet another thread this morning for the ghouls to assemble. I don’t think MN should allow these threads full of batshit speculation about missing people. Let the grief tourists and ghouls go elsewhere if they’re desperate to discuss it.

Mumsnet are happy to let these threads run. They've suggested I can hide threads I don't want to see. It's not about me. It's very distasteful.

FuckTheClubUp · 22/06/2024 10:45

vacay · 21/06/2024 22:06

Exactly this. Mumsnet why was it up for so long? Nearly 1k comments and you can guarantee another would have been made when it became full

You’ve answered the question yourself. Nearly 1K comments means more posters and more traffic on the site. We all have to remember that MN is a business.

This isn’t some lovely community where we can all get together and support one another. MN is a business and they make money through us. Of course the thread was awful and should have been deleted much earlier but you can see why they didn’t pull it straight away

I agree. I don't necessarily want to be part of a site that is no better than all the mawkish and ridiculous Facebook groups. And I've been here about 16 years.

More threads. Why? Why are they not being deleted when we report them?

Enough is enough @MNHQ

TheShellBeach · 22/06/2024 12:02

@LilyMumsnet why are another two threads now being allowed on here, after you pulled the previous one?

You don’t justify it. The media shouldn’t be speculating. That sort of stuff just for clicks is the reason why we need leveson 2 and proper media regulation with actual teeth. Not just something the tabloid rags pay lips service to if they feel like it.

TheShellBeach · 22/06/2024 12:02

I reported it too and was told that it’s being discussed everywhere else and if it wasn’t to my taste I could just hide it.

I think that’s a pretty disgraceful reaction, frankly. It was widely acknowledged that frenzied internet speculation about Nicola Bulley hindered the case. Just because other sites are discussing it doesn’t mean that MN has to allow it too.

DontBiteTheCat · 22/06/2024 12:26

I actually started the thread that was pulled, I posted when Jay first went missing with an article and a photo. The thread took a disgusting turn and yes, should have been deleted much earlier.

I have reported the two other threads also and been told they’re fine as it’s being discussed on other social media sites! People from the first thread have just jumped over to the others and are making the same comments, the “pushing up daisies” comment was particularly vile and I reported the thread then.

It doesn’t make sense that the others are being allowed to stand?

Ifoundyourglasses · 22/06/2024 12:29

You need to remove the other threads. It’s really awful leaving them unmoderated. The speculation is vile.

Ifoundyourglasses · 22/06/2024 12:30

@DelilahRay Go away. People like you are just unreal. Get a life.
