Banner advert in the app

Hi MNHQ,

There's a banner ad appearing in the ap (at the top) that makes the app visually really annoying to navigate. Will it be there permanently? It would be less bad at the bottom! Thanks!

Get rid of the banner or you'll lose members. It makes the app unreadable

Yes! I thought I was going a bit mad as couldn't work out why I kept opening things I'd already read. This is also happening for me (yesterday and today).

Really disappointed @JoMumsnet @mnhq haven't even come back with an update. It will have been a conscious choice to build this ad space into the app design. The very same app which never gets any of the benefits other platforms receive, but which a number of us users accept as the trade off for the simplicity of design and ease of reading.

It's particularly annoying that plenty other threads have had responses and comments today. Site stuff questions not just dealing with trolls.

I am trying to work out why this upsets me so much. I think a combination of autism and flashing, but also why I moved to the app. To feed and sit with babies all night, quietly, reading, and reaching out to others, that's been taken. It's now impossible

Yes, it's really annoying especially when moving - I'm currently seeing Monopoly Go ads, with all the pieces moving along in a line, it's really hard on the eyes

The app has frozen now and is not working at all except for the Monopoly ad marching across the screen. I’m going away until I hear bank from MNHQ 🤬

Same here, I've deleted and downloaded again but still the same. The app in general is bilge, so basic.

Got an email from MN saying:
"We are aware of one flashing advert that's been causing a few people problems recently, which we have fixed today."
But it hasn't been fixed at all!

I have not read the whole thread but have just got various banner ads at top of the screen on the app.. can this be changed? Really annoying!

No it's not fixed at all. Frozen on my iPad and just about works on phone. And still with the ad across the top.

Nope, back to scrolling Monopoly figures. I'm fine with ads, but this placement & banner style is really distracting & affecting the user experience.

I've got something advertising a cash bonus of $867. Yep, in dollars and I'm in the UK.

Just to add to the reports - it’s the IONOS ad on IOS browser that’s causing me issues. It flickers and flashes horribly. Hope MN come back on this soon.

The number of adds has really increased recently. Not just at the top of the page but also in the middle of threads. It’s getting too much.

Today I have ads for things very local to me.

I’ve guy 5 on this page alone include 2 “retail investor” ones that warm you about not investing if you can’t afford it. But are also encouraging people to invest?

It is awful. Even when it's not animated, it's THERE. And everything kind of moves up towards it and disappears into it when you scroll.
