Quote feature is in a horrible place now

Any chance we can have the quote feature somewhere better than it is?

you now have to click the 3 dots > then quote > then it drops down to the bottom and sometimes loses the quote entirely > then there is still a grey box over the text box so you have to click off it to type

really clunky this way, can it be moved somewhere easier?

There's little apparent point in the 'add message' button, it mostly encourages people to not read the thread and go off half-cocked (cancel the cheque!) - please recycle that space for 'quote message' instead. Save Thread and Report could easily go up into [...], perhaps Share too.

Agreed, the reply button makes you think you're replying to the message then you realise it's just a normal post. Swap reply out for quote please!

Another one hoping you'll replace the "Add Message / Reply" button with the Quote one. The "Reply" on mobile is particularly bad, it makes people think they're replying to that specific post, and you just end up with confusion and people asking "Why isn't replying working?"

Just adding another voice to this. Honestly reply is just such a stupid name for what is essentially add a post to this thread. No wonder so many posters think they are responding directly to a specific comment. Quote is such a useful feature and way more deserving of being on the bar below each post than save or reply.

Another one here who would love to be able to choose where the buttons go. However if that's too technical for MN then at least make the quote and edit button more accessible, they're far more useful than the pointless share and add reply buttons.

I've also been caught out by thinking "reply" was quote. Quite confusing if you don't know what you're looking for - would wholeheartedly agree that "quote" should be there and not hidden under the three dots.

Yes, please change it. I asked for it as soon as it was moved, it's a pain to have to scroll back up to get to the dots, then find 'quote' when you are already at the bottom of the post you want to reply to and include.

Agreed. If you test the user journey on the mobile site it doesn’t make sense at all (I.e. the way “reply” behaves).
I’m also unclear about the difference (or not) between “Save” and “Bookmark”.

Just adding my voice to the others and saying that 'quote' is now in an awkward place. It is one of the most-often used features, too.

It’s making threads so hard to follow, lots of posts that are clearly intended to have quoted a post from the way they’re worded but you can’t work out what they’re referring/replying to.

It also completely undermines the ability to read all the OP posts as you have page after page of OP posts looking like this:

Reply is a totally pointless functionality IMO - what does it do?

My idea:

At the bottom of each post there is currently

Save Thanks Reply report Bookmark

Get rid of Save and Reply

Then:
Thanks on the left most spot.
Quote next to that.
Book mark next to that.
Report on the Furthest right spot.

Simple and clean.

That'll be £2.88p and a Bottle Of Gin for my consultancy expertise... 🤪

I actually use 'save' not sure if it is any use but it feels as if it is.
Bookmark is essential
Reply is of no use.
Quote is invaluable, in the right place.
