There is a concerning growth of posts with racist undertones cropping up on these boards, all under the guise of being proudly 'anti-woke'.

Apparently diversity is 'woke' and worthy of derision.

so after 900 posts we get to the nub of the issue in that there are some problematic posts on one thread. I can cut and paste too. There are plenty of challenges back to the various posters who did a dump and run of those iffy opinions and didn’t stick around for the more complex, interesting discussion. Did you not see these posts @ReleasetheCrackHen ?

Complaining about a black Little Mermaid is on a par with complaining about a female Doctor Who 🙄

Anyone who has a problem with increased visibility of diverse races or gay characters in films is a racist, homophobic twat.

Racially diverse casts, same sex relationships, people with disabilities on screen are all positive changes to a cultural narrative that was predominantly telling stories of white men

No issues with more diversity on screen, we should see that.

I'm happy to be called woke if it means in not a racist, homophobic dickhead.

Exactly. For an experiment, if someone started the thread in AIBU or Chat, I'd be interested in whether it would be on the same level of intellectual discussion from several posters as the Disney thread had.

And posters moaning about posts about trans stuff is a bit much when that "derail" was the second post, about LGBT issues, and the OP completely agreed with them, indicating that she was happy for people to post about it. Several posters criticising FWR like Candlelight have mostly been concerned with pushing the trans angle.
