More from the OP’s example thread- that apparently very few bothered to even read before deciding there was no racism to see.
Do you see it now? now that I’ve done the heavy lifting for you?
Parks are a huge part of Disney’s income, plus nobody wants to go and have gender woo, pride merch and BLM shoved in their faces.
Disney has decided to remake it with Rachel Zegler who definitely does not have skin white as snow…. she isn't Snow White & they aren't lightening her skin to make her look like she is.
you probably shouldn't cast a olive skinned woman in the character famously known for being very pale with red lips and black hair.
I wasn't initially pro a black mermaid playing the role of a traditionally Danish Tale. I think since Black Lives Matter, Disney was stuck. They wanted to keep the original soundtracks but it's hard to justify a black carribbean influenced music score without appropriate representation.
And to some extent it's also being used to generate interest - let's cast a "diverse" actress in such and such a role and maybe create some media chatter about our shit film.
People can tell the difference between The Princess and the Frog where the prince happens to be non-White and The Little Mermaid where someone set out to say "I don't want her to be White". The first is an act of acceptance. The latter an act of aggression. Always accompanied by "if it matters to you, you're a bigot". I don't think you have to be a bigot to dislike an agenda pushed on you or to resent being targetted. And to be clear, it is targetted.
