I think you need to keep the name chaning facility for people who have a problem and want to remain anonymous.

But agree about changing your name to 'have a go' or voice an opinion, if you've got something valid to say then you shouldn't want to hide behind a false name!

Iklboo · 22/02/2008 13:48

I tried namechanging for a delicate subject and then changed back to usual name and 'outed' myself the next day giving an update to the topic
Can unserstand why some people want to change though.
Aren't you on something like your 10gth rein-cod-nation?

DualCycloneCod · 22/02/2008 13:48

oh god i havent changed for eyars
i jsut say it.

NomDePlume · 22/02/2008 13:48

i don't give a toss. On the whole name changers are harmless enough.

ratbunny · 22/02/2008 13:51

I change my name when I come up with a better one - I get bored easily

but i never change to voice an opinion that others might not agree with. I'm not scared of anyone

platesmasher · 22/02/2008 13:51

I've namechanged a few times since joining in December but I think I do it because I fancy a change, no malicious intent. Just feels like a new outfit. I have a new one in mind actually.

ratbunny · 22/02/2008 13:52

oops, forgot to answer op

I don't care of they change their names.

nailpolish · 22/02/2008 13:54

ive never name changed

i get annoyed when people expect me to know who they are tho

also whats annoying is thrads such as "ive changed my name! come and see!"

DualCycloneCod · 22/02/2008 13:55

NO I MEAN MALICIOUSLY YOU NOBOOS!

OP posts:
Boco · 22/02/2008 13:55

I changed my name just because I thought of one that was good but it wasn't really me so I changed back. I might change again. I'm changeable. But not to say rude things or anything, I'm consistently polite. Thank you.

ratbunny · 22/02/2008 13:57

give an example then! with a link.

nailpolish · 22/02/2008 13:57

maliciously - i dont pay attention

fryalot · 22/02/2008 13:57

maliciously name changing is BAAAAAAAD
but how can you police it?

Do you envisage a questionnaire?

  1. What are the purposes for your namechange?
  2. Is it your intention to be nasty to an established poster?
  3. Does your intended namechange have any humour value?
  4. Will your potential new name upset cod?

have it stamped with an APPROVED or a DENIED stamp?

and don't call people nobboes, they don't always appreciate it

Hassled · 22/02/2008 13:58

I'd love to change my name - I'm not hassled at all these days; things are positively mellow around here. It was just how I was feeling the time I first posted. BUT if I change, the handful of people who do recognise me wouldn't anymore and I'd just be a "newbie" (god I hate that word) all over again.
Re changing over contentious/embarrassing topics - if no-one knows who you are in RL, what's the point? It's not like we're having a chat in the village pub.

Mercy · 22/02/2008 13:58

If it's done maliciously then I think MN should give them one warning adn then out.

What's been happening today then?

Boco · 22/02/2008 13:58

Bah, the search facility is broken and I can't search for whodoyouthinkyouare to see how bad they have been.

foxinsocks · 22/02/2008 13:58

let's round them up and hound them out

round and hound

nailpolish · 22/02/2008 13:58

i wouildnt change my name to be malicious. if i have an opinion i voice it, but not if its going to hurt someones feelings

those who do are nasty (if htey are aware someone will be hurt) or cowards (prob cant back up their opinion)

SheikYerbouti · 22/02/2008 13:58

I* cahneged myt mane a couple of times.

Peolpe have accused me of trolling

I couldn;t give a monkey's toss

Boco · 22/02/2008 13:59

Hassled you could be nolongerhassledparticulary?

platesmasher · 22/02/2008 13:59

Who does it maliciously? How do you know?

Boco · 22/02/2008 14:00

I'm in with the round and hound! Can we use sticks with pointy ends? Can we wear a vigilante outfit?

foxinsocks · 22/02/2008 14:00

lol sheik. Your typing is making me laugh today. Right, must get on.

foxinsocks · 22/02/2008 14:01

I was envisaging cowgirls and lassoes (spelling?) and riding horses but, you know, I can do pointy sticks if you like.

SheikYerbouti · 22/02/2008 14:04

I have had a bad morning at work, where I have had to type properly, as I have been wrting letters to nobby clients.

It takes it out of me, it doos
