Moderation Sex Board

onirgellep · 13/04/2023 23:06

Back in February Justine* committed to an urgent review of moderation of the Sex Board subsequent to the considerable concerns mainly arising from the longstanding Sex Chat thread

Unsurprisingly, issues continue

Would it be possible to have an update on the progress of the review?

And hear when do you anticipate it being completed and the new moderation put into action?

Thank you

I'm afraid I'm unable to link Justine's post on the thread References to Underage Sex on the Sex Board* page 13

@everywhichway it's not womens' job to provide you with a list of sites to fulfil your sex chat needs. Can't you use google?

Theyresexpeoplemn · 15/04/2023 17:15

I'm concerned about the under age aspect now. Should there be some ID requirement to view or post?

I'm very concerned by the underage aspect and the fact that mumsnet themselves could be liable for hosting illegal content and that content being available to children.

I hope MNHQ are looking into that as a matter of urgency.

Mermaidparades · 15/04/2023 17:34

@horridjobescapee @everywhichway has already clarified that he does not require those websites, it was merely a rhetorical question.

TheShellBeach · 15/04/2023 17:37

I cannot understand why anyone wants a hook-up chat thread on here in the first place.

That's not quite what he said.

Me either

And I can't understand why a man would ask for recommendations for sleazy chat sites on mumsnet. It's abhorrent.

@TheShellBeach there isn’t going to be a hook up thread again, that’s in the past. Please don’t give it any more of your headspace. It wasn’t appropriate, it was ended by Mumsnet.

we'd be grateful if this thread could remain about policy, rather than personal comments about individual posters.

Mermaidparades · 15/04/2023 17:42

@TheBayTreeMurder so irony is ok on ‘your’side, but not on mine? Hmmm?! I saw your comment and felt compelled to support a friend, I’d do the same if it had been a woman.

horridjobescapee · 15/04/2023 17:43

Let's be clear. What he said was

Perhaps you'd like to suggest a suitable alternative site for people like that to go to then?

Why is that anyone here's job. To suggest a suitable alternative.

And then what he said was

For the avoidance of doubt, I have no interest in using other sites for the purposes of talking about sex and neither have I ever used one.

But he used mumsnet! Exactly for that purpose.

Grim.

And that's not about policy because it's about a comment made by a poster on this thread. And I'm challenging it in the same way as I would challenge any inappropriate comment on any thread.

This, over and over again

horridjobescapee · 15/04/2023 17:49

I hope to god that @JoMumsnet didn't meant that we shouldn't challenge vile sleazy disgusting comments made by anyone on this thread directly on the thread when she said the discussion should be kept to policy

Can someone from @mnhq please confirm. As that seems a dangerous road to go down, especially in the sex topic.

I believe that we are on a slippery slope to getting this thread deleted.
There are posters on here who are trying to be provocative.
May I suggest that nobody rises to it. Too many of these threads have been deleted. Let's try to keep this one.

You press the report button. You don't need to challenge anyone else's comments on here.

horridjobescapee · 15/04/2023 17:54

I challenge comments on lots of threads @HornyBee

@mnhq can you please confirm whether we should or should not be saying that comments are unacceptable? That seems designed to allow perverts and miscreants of all kinds to run riot on here.

Thank you.

But on this thread mumsnet have specifically asked people not to.

This isn't the Sex Board it's Site Stuff. Please can we respect HQ before yet another thread gets deleted

There are a lot of men who really can't stand the fact that they're not welcome or wanted in a space so they have to destroy or annex it. Being rejected or ignored by women is too familiar and painful an experience, so they have to use whatever weapons they have to try to get a reaction. Because even a negative reaction is attention; it confirms that they exist. It's the same motivation that drives flashers and public wankers.

horridjobescapee · 15/04/2023 17:59

I have reported my comment and asked MNHQ to confirm one way or another what is allowed.

I find it staggering that a request to direct to other sleazy sex chat sites on the internet would not be allowed to be challenged on any thread on mumsnet and have asked MNHQ to confirm.

I challenge racist opinions. I challenge ableist opinions. I challenge sexist opinions. For example. I also report. And have, on numerous occasions, been told that MNHQ are not going to delete the comment but please challenge it on the thread. Which I then have done.

It is worrying to me that this cannot be done on this thread, especially given the subject matter and the request for sleazy sex sites.

Mermaidparades · 15/04/2023 18:02

@TheShellBeach tell your friends, one of them has just accused @everywhichway of being a sexual predator. I reported instantly.
