Why is Sex topic now in Active?

It never used to be there before. It doesn't really seem appropriate with some of the titles.

Or all of them, Becky, Hebe etc

One thing that occurred to me is that even if the sex board (including the bloody chat thread) is the oasis of peace and goodwill that its regular users claim, it won't be for long if the contents stay in active. MN gets trolled. There is a reason sensitive boards don't appear there and given the fact MNHQ were wary of creating such a place for years, you'd think they'd remember why.

I'd be very surprised if that were true, given it's the most closely observed board on the site, with the trigger-happiest external TRA monitors who mass-report posts they don't like at the drop of a hat.

Gosh, you should report those. It’s a very heavily moderated board where posters have to very carefully police their language - if you think things are slipping through you should absolutely report them. On the plus side - lots of visible sex chat in Active Conversations should dilute those pesky feminist posts!

But afaik doing @MNHQ does bugger all (despite so many people thinking it should) - if you want to alert them to a particular post or thread for whatever reason (E.g. classics nominations, not just bad stuff) then you can report it.

They need to discuss the merits of annoying all the site users vs the upsetting advertisers and jeopardising the vibrator sales I guess!

I actually wonder if they are prepping the site for sale or investment from a private equity firm, and the deal is reliant on certain levels of use.

Even if it was an advertiser issue I can't see how it would take a week to resolve, given the brand damage that's occurring.

I'm not sure they need to worry about jeopardising sales, I doubt anyone is actually buying a MN vibrator. 🤣 Even those who might be in the market for one are going to look for something a little more stimulating than Shrek's ear 😂

I had the same copy-pasted paragraph yesterday from @LilyMumsnet which was really fucking patronising to be told they were "hearing" us when it wasn't at all relevant to what I'd put in my report. I pointed that out in reply, but @LilyMumsnet didn't even have the decency to respond.

The 'number of users who are frustrated by this' is around 100% of all those who have expressed an opinion either way.

They'll either be in the midst of squeaky bum meetings with the shrek's ear company or else the end of the promotion is in sight and they're hoping they can delay and ride it out without making any decisions.

I'm really pissed off.

Decisions about who to partner with for advertising and lucrative sponsored content deals are one thing. Promising to deliberately manipulate the way this forum works as part of such a deal is a step beyond.

It's very obvious that something like this has gone on here. Otherwise they'd just hide the sex topic. We've had an illustration today of how easy this would be to do because they accidentally hid the relationships topic from active and then reinstated it.
