Totally inappropriate enormous vibrator adverts now ALL over Mumnset.

What on earth are you thinking of? Is Mumsnet really that short of cash that they have to stoop this low?

Not to mention the ridiculous woke language ie "people with wombs".

Totally inappropriate on ALL levels.

Smile Makers website is an eye opener - how we work - we named everything with male names while talking about female sexuality- hmmm sod those pesky lesbians. Basically the products, language, packaging and supply chain need overhauling and they want everyone to tell them how to do it.

LowbrowVictoriana · 02/02/2023 12:06

We knew from previous activations with our community that sex and motherhood is a deeply-rooted taboo

Eh? Where and when were these "activations" conducted? 1825?

This pisses me off, because it's GASLIGHTING, pure and simple. There is no taboo around a mother having sex - duh, that's how siblings come about - none whatsoever. Not even in 1825, actually. They're trying to convince us that there is, so that we'll get fired up, feel all gutsy and rebellious and go and buy one of their Shrek's ears to break that objectionable taboo.

I think if I ever met anyone IRL who referred to me as a womb/cervix/vagina/vulva owner or "haver" I'd probably not be very polite to them.

"Haver" is a great word, though. It's a Scottish word that rhymes with saver and it means talking a load of rubbish. Very ap.

I’ve just had a baby and am desperate to reconnect with my sexuality but have no idea how to. Can’t remember to all of 9 months ago, I was a different person then, I can only have mum sex now.

The obstacles are not lack of time, lack of motivation, leaking nipples, brith injuries and lack of sleep. All I really need is a special vibrator that has been made with me in mind. Thank god someone has thought of me, now I can bust that taboo.

😂I did a proper actual lol then.

I found the people with wombs shite

www.mumsnet.com/articles/the-whisperer

Is it just me, or is this a bit "Stick this up you it will help you get ready for The Sacred Penis"

AllOutofEverything · 02/02/2023 12:07

I agree there is zero taboo around sex and motherhood. There is a taboo around people like me saying we do not want to see adverts for sex toys.

I am creeped out by the names of some of the other vibes - The Firefighter? The Tennis Pro?

What on Earth do they think is going on down there? I don't require any of those professions in proximity to my vulva.

Youwhatnowbiggles · 02/02/2023 12:11

ummm, can anyone else see this thread in the Active list? It seems to have dropped off mine (though I can locate it in Threads I’m on) - just wondering if hq have hidden it from showing up to stop new posters... Hopefully it’ll pop up now and I can put my conspiracy theory to bed, but I would be seriously disappointed if this has indeed happened.

Doesn’t appear to be showing in Active, no….

SalviaOfficinalis · 02/02/2023 12:14

Not showing in my active either… how odd 🤔

They have the Tennis Pro and Firefighter so it’s not too much of a stretch to think they have The Fat Controller vibrator too !!

YesitsBess · 02/02/2023 12:14

Gone from active and trending for me.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 02/02/2023 12:15

No longer in active or trending.

Youwhatnowbiggles · 02/02/2023 12:17

Wow, seriously wow. SO, us little women are such an inconvenience we should be hidden. And they think we’re so thick we won’t notice. Shame on you Mumsnet. Shame. On. You.

The sex chat is now in active too...
I wish it wasn't because I don't want to see it and cannot work out how to hide it in the app.

I noticed the sex topic is now in active, although I think there’s some genuine posters, there are some right pervs on there. The language they use is a complete giveaway. I’m sure it’s mostly pervy men talking to other pervy men. 🤮

SilentNightDancer · 02/02/2023 12:21

Gone from Active and Trending for me too...

Mardyface · 02/02/2023 12:22

The more I think about this the more it's annoying me. The reason (if true) that female sexuality is taboo has nothing to do with physiology has it. It's all socially constructed and conditioned because as we all know female genitals are perfectly capable of producing pleasurable sensations. Women are not supposed to enjoy sex because it has been culturally decided they don't - that is what a taboo is! It's not something that exists outside of cultural expectations! So vulvae and wombs have literally nothing to do with it. It is ALL about being socialised as women. There's a lesson for you smile makers. Precision of language helps expose these inequalities and THAT's how you challenge them.

LetTheLiquorTalk · 02/02/2023 12:23

Yes, why is this no longer in active? It seems to be an active thread @mnhq.

In all seriousness though, I’m so sickened by this whole issue (in particular the fact MN have exposed themselves as trans apologists) that I’m seriously considering leaving, as I don’t want to associate myself with this ‘people with wombs’ utter bullshit. I’ve been a member for 12 years.

Anyone else contemplating leaving with me?

Yes, and I've been here a lot longer than that.

Clearly, some of the wording used is unpopular with many of you

Talk about wishy-washy claptrap, @CherylMumsnet.

YesitsBess · 02/02/2023 12:26

Yes. All Volvo owners must shut up now because Shrekwank Inc. might be upset.

What a load of absolute batwank.
