A few more for the snagging list

MN team, I can see you are hard at work fixing glitches as a lot of the problems from yesterday seem to be improving (I no longer have the black box over my PMs, or the empty lines at the top of each page, for instance). Thank you for your hard work!

A few that still appear for me, for your reference:

  • On all platforms, Trending and Active are still not working properly, full of zombie threads and not updating
  • On Chrome on my laptop, I have tried to post this thread multiple times and got a “checking your browser, captcha” box pop up on the screen and then a 403 error box over the whole screen and have lost this post multiple times…
  • On Chrome on my laptop, some long links are not wrapping in posts and extend out to the right beyond the edge of the post (see for instance post by @ButtonMoonLoon on this thread: www.mumsnet.com/talk/site_stuff/4534587-was-anyone-on-here-a-tester-for-this-awful-new-site
  • On Chrome on my laptop, when you flip a thread, it leaves the OP at the top (this doesn't happen on the iOS app, where the most recent post is at the top)
  • On the iOS app, when you filter by OP and then click the link to go to one of their posts it always takes you to their first post, even if you're selecting one from later down the thread
  • On the iOS app, old threads have a lot of html showing around where emojis used to be, and line breaks are showing as <br>
  • On the iOS app, the apple emojis are the right size but the MN emojis are squashed, they’re the right width but about 2/3 the hight they should be
  • On the iOS app, posts that have a quote in them are all run together between the quote and the first paragraph of the post. I think a line break is missing between the quoted part and where the post starts. See for instance the comments by @crackingreward on this thread: www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4534652-aibu-to-think-that-the-spice-girls-were-absolute-rubbish

Hope that helps! I'll add to this snagging list as I come across stuff. And also let you know if they're fixed!

Mobile site - Firefox- android:

  • active topics all old
  • "Notifications" in top rh corner - clicking on any one notification gives a long black box. Can't get out of it.
  • Pictures are still v small.
Probably many more but these are the most clearly "wrong"...

Also the OP post is shown in full at the top of each page of the thread, rather than being collapsed on pages 2+ (with option to view the whole OP). Not sure if this is intentional or not but it's really annoying, especially with a long OP!

Active/trending appears to be fixed now, at least in the iOS app!

On Active, if I read a thread and then press back, instead of going back to the title page I came from, it updates every time. So if I go back intending to read a particular thread it's gone.

Mobile. Chrome.
When I go onto my notifications and click on a thread, a big black box comes up and covers the screen. I have to press back to get out.

When I tried to click the first link @Xiaoxiong @SueMumsnet It showed this

its tedious. I have hardly posted or read these last 2 days because it's too glitchy to be fun

This one is annoying for me too, I've seen it mentioned a few times so I think a lot of posters use the back button in the same way

Have discovered a new glitch which is that the formatting between the website and the iOS app isn't compatible. On the website my OP has bullet points - on the app, it's showing up as the actual html tags but with no line breaks and the underlining from the links is going onto all the text. See screenshot attached of what it looks like on my phone.

I was coming on to say this- when you go back after reading a thread from active, it's like active has refreshed rather than going back to where I was so the list jumps and you have to work out where you were. It never used to do that and other websites, say BBC news or anything, will go back to your location on the previous page rather than refreshing.

—Same for clicking back - I don’t want it refreshes unless I click active again.
-same for notifications- I have them (red cicled and number) but they are not there when I click on it.
-the type face - omg how painful and cold and clinical to read?!!

Sorry to hop on your thread but I have another one MN, don't know if it's on your list already!

If I try to bookmark a really long post on the iPhone app, the bookmark actually shows up way down on the right hand side and involves a bit of precarious scrolling. I don't think it used to be like that?

I’m not getting email notifications for threads I’m watching when there have been new posts.

Just posted my first comment since the changes and it came up the same colour as the OP (green). Previously OP was green and I was pink.

Not a snag but thankyou for fixing the glaring white background. Whatever you did, it's much better now.

@SueMumsnet I’ll just repost here a post I put in a separate thread as it’s hard to know if you are able to keep up with all the different posts.

Mumsnet Premium is still asking me to join (I’m a member) and I am getting “sort of” adverts. Pics attached. I have cleared cookies and logged out and in again and nothing changed. I’ve refreshed everything today but nothing has changed, even though the pics are from yesterday.

I’m on laptop, MacBook Pro, Safari, 15.4. Hope that helps.

If you can create an option that is more condensed with less scrolling (this must be a nightmare on mobile - which I won’t attempt) that would be fab. Thank you!!

@tcjotm the colour of posts is really easy to reset in your settings.

@SueMumsnet mine are only a couple of small things, as I'm too unibservant to detail the big things & just hope they'll get fixed 🤣

  1. No longer capitalising the first letter of a new paragraph.
  2. emails informing you that you've been mentioned on a thread, no longer taking you to the post, only the thread. Very annoying.

This might be due to the age of my Amazon tablet ( about 3 years) but I'm still getting adverts on Premium. It says logged in which I do through Google as Mumsnet says it doesn't recognise my details. I can go to my premium but can't post or do anything as it somehow doesn't recognise I'm logged in.

My newer tablet is fine apart from the empty advertisement box at the top which I can live with so thanks for that.

Hope everyone gets sorted soon!

@SueMumsnet I have just downloaded the Mumsnet Talk App. It does not think I have a Mumsnet Premium subscription. So your databases are not linked up yet.

If you check your own 'threads I'm watching' it no longer tells you how many posts have been made since you last looked, just the total number of posts, so there is no way of knowing how many pages back to go to catch up.
Then when you have caught up, you can not hit the 'watch' button again to take you back to where you were. I suppose I could unwatch and then watch again, but it takes longer.
Losing the 'take me to page..' box is annoying as is losing the take me to first/last option.

I don't think there's any way of getting it to show anything other than the most recent 3 posts in the thread on 'threads I'm watching'. I don't like the new format as you can't tell at a glance which have new posts and which don't, unless you remember the time you last checked/ posted (the most recently updated will move to the top of the list for you, unless you've set it to a different order.) So you'll get all threads in the order they were last updated, all showing the most recent 3 post.

Minor thing - in Active, threads I’ve looked at are mostly Purple but some are not and some threads I definitely haven’t looked at are Purple.
It’s not really bothering me at all, but just thought I’d flag it in case it’s linked to some other glitch that others are experiencing.
