So we've improved the general Search function in the upgrade. Our research with users showed that lots of people used Advanced Search because the general Search didn't work very well. You can now do much more than you used to be able to do in the general Search, it's quicker, the results should be more relevant etc.

So there's currently not an Advanced Search option. But do let us know what's missing from Search and we can look at what more we can do to improve it.

PS - We've seen the reports that there are issues around the sliders in Search that we'll take a look at asap.

Tick box filter options for Today, This Week, This Month, This Year or similar would be useful. The slider is a complete pain if you're just looking for recent posts.

Where is the magnifying glass?! I'm on my laptop and I can't see it anywhere!

You just use search now and on the right hand side list you tick poster name or subject etc, it’s much better,

On my laptop I can see it up the top, right by the Mumsnet, by parents for parents logo. Looks like it's the general search for the whole site but works for the Talk elements.

I really liked to be able to define my search to certain topics and date parameters. Can we have that back as an option please?

Yep you can do this. Put your Search term in and click the magnifying glass (or hit enter) it'll then display the results and a list of topics on the left hand side (if you're on desktop) or in the dropdown box "filters" (if you're on mobile). You'll find creation date here as well.

It might be because I'm on a laptop but the minimum search date range seems to be 2 weeks, is that right? The slider is infuriating, how is that easier/quicker than typing in the date range you want?

Yep agree that the sliders are sub-optimal. We'll find a better way to do date range asap.

OK Sue. I have tried to find a poster (me) on a particular board and the results take me only to the first page of the thread and not to the posts. Am I missing something else now?

No you're not missing something - finding a particular post isn't currently possible. That's something we can look at improving.

also seems that it only brings up searches that are in the header not in the actualy post.
Advanced search you could search for a word, whether it was in header or just in the actual main body of the post

Yeah I've just searched to find a thread I posted on yesterday, searched by a key word (which is what I searched via AS yesterday) and I can't find it. Plus, I'm not just seeing results for that word, but that word with the y removed and replaced with -ed, -ing, -er etc etc.

I can't find search or a magnifying glass ! This is all taxing my brain 🤔

Yup, 94 results and none of them are the thread I'm looking for (which I can see through Threads I'm On is still up). It was the only search result yesterday.

Finally found the magnifying glass.

im trying to find the word “peak” in conception threads that were posted in the last three days.

but the shortest date range it gives me is the end of March until today.

I have nothing against the slider but why can’t it include all dates rather than preset ones?
