Consent/legitimate interest Reject All button?

BloodyFeetByMoonlight · 07/12/2021 18:03

I usually stay logged in on my phone but randomly had to sign in again just now & had to do the pita cookie consent business again.

All the Consents come up as opt in but can we get a ‘reject all’ button for the ‘legitimate interest’ stuff? (Or have I missed seeing it in the huff of having to rechoose?)

Many won’t care I know and happily have all the cookies etc but a reject all would be handy for those that don’t because it’s annoying to have to scroll through (esp on my teeny old phone Blush)

Obvs don’t expect companies to want to prob why the legitimate interest buttons exist alongside the consent buttons in the first place Hmm but I’ve noticed more sites have ‘reject all’ alongside ‘accept all’ for both consent & legitimate interest so sticking an ask in Grin

"advanced store GmbH
Cookie duration: 24856 (days). Uses other forms of storage."

Another one frustrated at being asked, again to consent to cookies.
Some of which, like the above, have ridiculously invasive lengths of permission.

  • I haven't changed my settings
  • I haven't cleared browsers/ gone incognito
  • I have reduced my use of MN as I wont have it on my work laptop, phone or tablet- cant be bothered with this on more than one device.
Rummikub · 13/01/2022 23:58

25000 days???
68 years ? Wt

So if I say no to them now does that over ride any previous permissions?

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 14/01/2022 15:06

Hello - thanks for your comments. We've asked our tech team to look into this. We'll get back to you ASAP.

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 14/01/2022 16:34

Thanks again for your feedback - we totally acknowledge that this issue has been dragging on for way too long and appreciate how annoying it’s been for everyone. We’ve been speaking to Google about why consent keeps popping up because, in theory, it should remember your preferences even if you reject all.

As we said up thread, we’re replacing all this with something more reliable that will include a reject-all button and the plan is for this to go live at the end of February. Meanwhile, If you want to know more about what we track and why, please take a look at our Privacy Policy - there’s also a section on how to manage cookies on the most popular browsers.

CaptaNoctem · 17/01/2022 21:32

@KrakowDawn

It's not the cookies so much (as they are set to off automatically), it's the 'legitimate interests'. There are no legitimate interests as far as I am concerned, for any of these companies. They have no right to this information about us.
Yes I agree.

"Legitimate interest" is a way round the GDPR legislation and having to toggle off over 150 separate buttons is ridiculous. I no longer access Mumsnet on a mobile device as I'm sick of having to do it.

Virtually every other site has a reject all button - I really can't see why Mumsnet struggles with this, other than it will lose a lot of nice juicy data it can sell on

Luckily my laptop seems to be OK

Halsall · 18/01/2022 18:16

For the record, I just had it again. Hadn’t made any changes at all to anything on my phone There were 150 separate permissions I had to untoggle - I counted them. Angry

Katy75 · 19/01/2022 08:21

and again here after only 7 days

Katy75 · 19/01/2022 08:28

The privacy policy did not answer my question about what ~150 vendors would use our data for and the purported ‘legitimate interest’ for them doing so. Please can we have a response on this specific point? And also on why this is repeatedly happening to those of us who reject cookies. Thank you.

I'd report your posts so they can see them. I'd like to know too. Its ridiculous.
Katy75 · 19/01/2022 09:55

thank you @FlamingGoat, I have done, so hopefully @YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet and @mnhq will respond to us soon.

MsAgnesDiPesto · 19/01/2022 10:10

@Chemenger

I have been asked to complete the cookie consent twice this week. I haven’t cleared my cookies or used an incognito browser.
Same for me. I have just had to go through the whole process again - it took me 158 clicks to reject all the cookies. Ridiculous. This just isn’t sustainable and I will get to the stage where I stop using the site at all if a better solution doesn’t appear soon. It’s the only site I use where a don’t have the option to ‘reject all’ on either one or two screens, and that’s it.
MichaelMumsnet · 19/01/2022 10:25

Hi all, we've checked this again.
Third parties add cookies/collect data only when you consent - they do this for reasons such as personalising ads.

The list of vendors listed in the Consent Management Platform (CMP) is curated by our advertising team - the vendors don't collect data all the time, only when they are called on to the page via the ad server.

For more information on the exact data collected, you can read the privacy policy of the vendors - you can find it on the CMP (see pic).

Do you seriously expect us to read over 150 separate privacy policies every time we have to go and reject cookies yet again?
Chemenger · 19/01/2022 12:12

Just had to do it all again. This really hardens me against accepting anything. It feels like you hope that eventually everyone will give in and click accept all.

Ah here Michael, you cannot seriously expect me to read 150+ sets of privacy policies. Thats bonkers, and I wont. Cost benefit analysis= leave the page that asks me to do that, and go to another site, that allows me to reject all.
Ascii · 20/01/2022 07:53

7 days on from the last time and I’ve had to do it again. 159 clicks to reject all. I really feel that it’s a very underhand way to get us to accept permissions that we don’t want. My trust in Mumsnet as a business is rock bottom. It’s only the other posters/users that keep me coming back as their wealth of experience and insight is invaluable. But my brand image of Mumsnet is sadly very low. I wouldn’t trust them with my info at all.

Memyselfandfood · 20/01/2022 08:36

And again…..

This is how i feel also.
FluffytheGoldfish · 20/01/2022 18:19

Again having to do this. Also agree makes me more likely to go elsewhere rather than accept all.
I noted this one…Who on earth needs to have cookies for 60 +years?

Consent/legitimate interest Reject All button?
larkstar · 02/02/2022 16:42

MN has to instruct Permutive to make the opt out 1 click - plenty of other GDPR compliant sites now do this - this is not difficult. Imagine how difficult it is for someone with poor eyesight, poor motor control, arthritis, etc to exercise their right to opt out - there is no excuse for delaying this change.

larkstar · 02/02/2022 16:46

What action has MN actually taken and when to respond to complaints about opting out of tracking cookies - when was it first raised? What are the time scales? What decisions have been made - any or none on this issue?

It is the worst site I use for trackers.

Consent/legitimate interest Reject All button?
AuntieStella · 02/02/2022 18:34

It was raised in autumn 2020, so it's been 18 months of trying and failing to persuade MN to act on this

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4062895-To-suggest-you-check-your-privacy-settings-if-you-think-you-have-rejected-cookies-on-Mumsnet

AuntieStella · 02/02/2022 18:35

And it was 48 clicks then

162 now

JoyDivisionOvenGlovesx · 17/02/2022 18:56

Just had that consent thing again today.

Fuck me it’s annoying that there’s no ‘reject all’ button yet.
