Does MNHQ Check Our Inboxes?

Chillyourbeans · 14/04/2020 22:43

Just wondering. I received a private message and sent 2 replies and now the recipient has received a message from MNHQ saying the replies were removed at my request. Except that's not true, I made no such request.

I haven’t signed up to premium but the message in my inbox was deleted.

Also I had one a few days ago telling me about tattle. (Different sender) I checked and that message hasn’t been deleted. Looks like they just deleted all the ones sent by Theodoref.

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 14/04/2020 23:42

Is it an X rated site?

No it’s just a slicker version of Mumsnet.

LockedInMadness · 14/04/2020 23:43

What? Someone is trying to recruit members for a brand new site? By PM?

That’s a bit ambitious and vaguely like the Moldies debacle.

Not ambitious at all, apparently that new parenting site has had hundreds sign up in the last few days. Think posters were annoyed at all this premium business here and it seems many are jumping ship.

Bit weird these messages though, are we sure mn hasn't been hacked again?

BringMeSunshineInMyLife · 14/04/2020 23:44

No it’s just a slicker version of Mumsnet.

So the PMs are not being deleted because they are pornographic? I assumed it was dick pic type PMs.

BringMeSunshineInMyLife · 14/04/2020 23:45

Coming from 1 user sounds odd. Usually spammers just post on threads dont they? Sending so many PMs sounds very different.

Schuyler · 14/04/2020 23:47

MNHQ have the ability to read messages, nothing is private on here. They’ve had multiple security breaches. I’m surprised people are surprised.

ArriettyJones · 14/04/2020 23:49

What does “slicker” mean? There can’t be many members and it’s a bit off trying to poach MN members via MN’s own messaging system.

SleepyNightOwl · 14/04/2020 23:49

I posted a thread about something similar. Someone sent me a message but it says the user hid it and when I try to reply it won’t go through, even searching their name brings up nothing.

BringMeSunshineInMyLife · 14/04/2020 23:49

They’ve had multiple security breaches.

How long usually before they confess?
I remember the big one of course- how many others?

Epique · 14/04/2020 23:50

I got the message too, saw the full message originally but it’s now been deleted as per earlier references, PP’s are correct, it was a link for the other site, I went to have a look, seems pretty interesting over there...they have an edit function... 😱😂

I’ll probably sign up to see what it’s all about tbh.

Epique · 14/04/2020 23:52

“There can’t be many members and it’s a bit off trying to poach MN members via MN’s own messaging system.”

Meh, probs no worse than getting a begging email in your private inbox. 🤷🏻‍♀️

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 14/04/2020 23:59

Not pornographic. It’s literally just says something along the lines of “just letting you know there’s this new website called [the name of it]”

UserDeleted · 15/04/2020 00:03

This reply has been deleted

Message deleted by MNHQ. Here's a link to our Talk Guidelines.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 15/04/2020 00:03

I think BanKittenHeels is probably right.

ErrolTheDragon · 15/04/2020 00:08

Are we not allowed to mention other websites anymore?

Maybe it depends how.
Spamming inboxes sounds dodgy.
I saw a couple of identical threads promoting the new site and making accusations against MN.

If that's representative of the ethics of this other site I don't think I want to touch it with a barge pole ... though maybe it's a third party shitstirrer at work.Confused

Everyexitisanentrance · 15/04/2020 00:11

I received four messages today from the same person which were then deleted. It is not a glitch. I think they have been hacked again.

BringMeSunshineInMyLife · 15/04/2020 00:12

How long until they usually let users know they have been hacked?

ArriettyJones · 15/04/2020 00:12

NM is more of a rival yet we get to talk about them.

The demographics are so different that in business (marketing/advertising) terms I don’t think NM is a direct rival.

BigChocFrenzy · 15/04/2020 00:17

"If that's representative of the ethics of this other site I don't think I want to touch it with a barge pole"

Exactly
An early red light flashing

Everyexitisanentrance · 15/04/2020 00:20

Also reflects badly on MN site security - another reason not to hand over your bank details

ArriettyJones · 15/04/2020 00:20

Oh is that you spamming a link @UserDeleted ? Hmm

That’s not “slick”, it looks like probable copyright infringement, in fact.

sobeyondthehills · 15/04/2020 00:22

Its about a new parenting site, that is more or less the exact same model of MN's

They seem to have an editing function.

I think it stems from Tattle.

I would guess given the amount of times the comments with the name are being removed, they are banning those people so the messages are being remove from PM

Everyexitisanentrance · 15/04/2020 00:23

I am surprise no one from MN has posted anything yet.

(what are all the 100 staff doing? there must be at least one night shift moderator on the £350k monthly pay roll )

ArriettyJones · 15/04/2020 00:23

That’s also true. I haven’t trusted them since Jeffrey and then the dodgy TRA intern.

So I won’t pay, but I’m not defecting you that weird, cheap looking facsimile site either. It looks like shit and if they’re unethical enough to poach posters by PM, they could well be a scamming site of some sort anyway. Maybe they only exist to harvest user details.

UserDeleted · 15/04/2020 00:23

Its not spamming. People link elsewhere all the time. Even to other similar sites.
If I was new and only posting this link then yes I'd be a spammer. 😆
