I've just logged into someone else's account, using my own details?

I have no idea how this happened?

I logged in using my usual email address and password, went to TIO and realised I hadn't been on any of the threads in question and the account settings were completely different Confused

Then I realised it was someone else's account? Needless to say I logged straight out. I entered the same details again and now I'm back as me.

For the record, I'm not a name changer and have never heard of the person who I logged in as (see attached pic).

I've just logged into someone else's account, using my own details?

I’ve also had a weird thing happen (getting email alert to say I have been tagged when I haven’t been, so I wonder if this is some kind of site glitch). Pretty major data protection implications for yours though

WorraLiberty · 06/02/2019 22:50

Yes I've just AS'd amicissimma and they're a regular by the looks of it with over 500 posts.

I'd like to reassure them though, I logged straight out but could obviously have snooped in their inbox.

Have reported your post to mumsnet, not because I think you are dodgy but just to ensure it gets seen swiftly!

Oswin · 06/02/2019 22:52

Bloody hell that's not good.

EstherMumsnet · 06/02/2019 22:54

We've flagged this up as a matter of urgency with our tech team. Thank you so much for alerting us to it - and for doing the right thing and logging straight out. If this happens again, or to anyone else reading this, please let us know as soon as you can. We do take this very seriously.

WorraLiberty · 06/02/2019 22:54

Thanks NeverTwerk.

I've just messaged the poster to let them know.

This happened to me once ages ago. I think I tried posting and previewing and it said I didn’t have that user name though.

WorraLiberty · 06/02/2019 22:55

Thanks EstherMumsnet

I did check the padlock symbol was there when I logged in as I always tend to and it was.

I'm not sure if it helps but I'm using Chrome on my laptop.

@EstherMumsnet in case it helps your tech team figure out what the glitch is - I have also had an email saying I had been tagged in a thread when actually I haven’t been. Am not a techie but am guessing the fact it happened at the same time might not be a coincidence!

Rememberyourhat · 06/02/2019 22:57

Plus I couldn’t search or anything.

I logged out and in, same thing happened, went to show DH (tech) to see if I had done something wrong and logged out and then it was back to being right again.

Always is when I try to show DH anything.

Yearofchange · 06/02/2019 22:57

Me too, I’m not yearofchange.

WorraLiberty · 06/02/2019 22:58

Always the way! Grin

Not sure if relevant but I was logged out about an hour ago, not by my doing.
Possible glitch or data problem here?

NeverTwerkNaked · 06/02/2019 23:01

remember that’s what happens to me whenever I call up the IT helpdesk person at work Grin

WorraLiberty · 06/02/2019 23:05

I've started a thread in AIBU for traffic, directing anyone here who might also be affected.

For about an hour, I had trouble name-changing yesterday (yes I do post about different parts of my life under different names). pleased to say I am not amiccissima too

ShirleyPhallus · 06/02/2019 23:17

This is interesting. Sadly I’m still me.

Or maybe I should go and cause loads of troll-like trouble and then pretend I’m not....?

PorkPatrol · 06/02/2019 23:18

Golly, I am NOT the person showing in my username and I have just realised that I have managed to post under the above name on an 11+ thread. I did use my correct log-in details and it was only when I checked to see if my contribution had posted that I realised the error. (Although there’s not a small part of me that’s actually secretly glad to have been able to post on an 11+ thread under a nom-de-plume...)

I do sincerely hope that whoever is posting under my usual user name is giving fabulously-wonderful advice on the Style & Beauty boards as I’m normally too scared to go ther in my own boring persona!

WorraLiberty · 06/02/2019 23:19

Shirley, I like your style Grin

It’s very tempting, Shirley...

WorraLiberty · 06/02/2019 23:21

I honestly wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't have gone straight to TIO and realised I hadn't posted on any of them, or if the settings weren't different.

amicissimma has their OP comments highlighted in green and mine are pink, so at least it was completely obvious from the outset.

This happened to me yesterday, I hadn't logged in for ages and had to change my password. I didn't recognise the user name, this is the main one I use but do name change so it wasn't obvious it wasn't mine, but it wouldn't let me change it.

When I looked on my profile it said I had 2 DC and there was a different name and email address, I honestly thought DD must have changed it if she'd been on my phone when I was logged in. I checked TIO to see what she'd been posting but realised it was stuff she would have no idea about.
I logged out and back in and got my own profile, I looked to see if there was anywhere I could report it, but then went out and forgot about it until now.
