I know I've been away for a bit, but where did this come from in my absence??

tbh, I do find it a bit distasteful to have it there.

not wishing to be controversial at all. But v. curious.

Wow......ahem..looney....to repeat, for the last time, I have not accused anyone of murder, don't hold anyone personally responsible, don't have an opinion to express here on Iraq or Afghanistan, or ANY of the "sins" I have been asked to account for, not personally insulted anyone here.....my opinions on abortion is personal, and doesn't really go much beyond that which I stated what seems like ages ago.

In comparison, other posters have been pretty rude, and unpleasantly personal, but I have let it go rather than asking MNHQ to censor them.

It is also hard to believe that no-one else had asked the same question - but apparently not. Okay. I have asked it, and not had it answered, which I don't mind at all. It doesn't mess my day up!!!

And what I do?? I am in full time paid employment in a job I luuuurve doing, that makes a difference to the good, to lots of people. Every day.

Would be simply overjoyed to leave this thread here. Ta.

I would have loved to leave it there HOWEVER can you please explain why you think it's distasteful for forces wives to CHAT about things like missing their partner, moaning about living quarters etc etc? And sorry but you say:

'I have not accused anyone of murder, don't hold anyone personally responsible, don't have an opinion to express here on Iraq or Afghanistan, or ANY of the "sins" I have been asked to account for.....'.

Some people may think your earlier post may imply you are:

'just well,...it's the being paid to kill children, and mothers and fathers. Not very Mumsnet it is?? And being subsidised whilst doing it. just curious.'

Basic premise. "Killing children, mothers, and fathers is not very Mumsnetty."

do your legs hurt Pan? All that back tracking!

Report
DaddyJ · 22/06/2007 17:40

The flaming you got was unfortunate, Pan,
but not surprising.
The phrase 'distasteful' in your OP
invited some strong replies.

Your question was flawed
and the flaw pointed out to you.

Glad that's cleared up, though.

Report
Pan · 22/06/2007 17:42

Your being absurd...tell me where the back-tracking is??? Actually don't waste your time, it's futile.

It appears the main point is left and now you wish to continue a dispute by other means. Weeel, I'll leave it to you.

But what is your point?

Thats what I dont understand!

The OP suggests you dont like the new topic, but you have no reason why not.

Report
Pan · 22/06/2007 17:43

Sorry DaddyJ..nothing of the sort...just a simple denial issued, not "cleared up" at all. A flaming? Hmm.......if you wish..

I thank the armed forces for being there and for keeping us safe. It's not them that take us to war it's governments- they defend us.

Joining the forces these men and women risk their own lives for the good of everyone.

Their wives, husbands and partners SHOULD have at the very least somewhere to chat

Report
McDreamy · 22/06/2007 17:46

Pan you have your opinions to which you are of course entitled to but you clearly have no idea what it's like to be in the forces or married to the forces. If you don't like the forces section then please don't grace us with your presence - you wil not be missed!

As for commenting on jobs in the forces and how they all contribute tho killing families I can only reiterate my point above - you clearly have no idea! How sad

pan - I have always respected you as a mumsnet poster, so I mean this in all genuine-ness:

what do you want? Should we have a "Partners of those in the forces who don't agree with the glorification of slaughtering babies" topic?

I can totally understand why partners of those in the forces would like to chat with others in a similar situation.

Am thinking of asking mnhq for a "partners of teachers" topic so that others can give me advice on how to cope for six weeks when he's at home and under my feet ALL DAY

Nothing more, Pan. I am not attacking you!

Why is it not cleared up?

I don't understand what's left to work out?

I genuinely don't understand where you're coming from.

And since you evidently lack the bollocks to expand on your OP, perhaps you would allow me to.

Your problem with the Forces Sweethearts topic is this:-

You don't believe these women should have a topic of their own because you believe their husbands to be child murderers.

That's about it, isn't it?

If you cannot understand why that inflames people, then you have a problem. A serious problem.

Pan · 22/06/2007 17:52

Well I DON'T normally spend so much time on one thread.......but the quality of counter-argument was just..well..so poor!!

hello squonk - didn't know that.

right, need to go - as Edith may have said, au revoir mon amis...plus ca change plus c'est la meme chose......

Edith Piaf helped the troops during WW2.

She was named after Edith Cavell, the British nurse who helped soldiers during WW1.

Are you sure you still want to go?

Dh is a doctor in the armed forces so I'm guessing your argument for his job will be that they just hurt and kill people so he has something to do?

Blandmum · 22/06/2007 17:58

Gosh, are we all to be in awe of your amazing debating tactics Pan. I hadn't realised.

'no no no!! One doesn't have to go looking for arguments round here!!

just well,...it's the being paid to kill children, and mothers and fathers. Not very Mumsnet it is?? And being subsidised whilst doing it. just curious.

Such a stunning analysis of a complex and challenging situation.

I am glad you got your answer.

There might have been other people
who had the same question, Pan,
so good to know that debate is put to bed.
