I know I've been away for a bit, but where did this come from in my absence??

tbh, I do find it a bit distasteful to have it there.

not wishing to be controversial at all. But v. curious.

Unfortunately war is a fact of life. Whatever the rights and wrongs of a particular war, we as a country are fortunate to have a group of men and women who will sacrifice their lives for their country. I cannot begin to imagine what it must be like to be married to someone in the forces - the fear, the uncertainty, the fact that their children don't see their fathers (or mothers) for months on end. Personally, I admire them immensely.

I assume Pan that you don't think abortion should be discussed on Mumsnet but perhaps you'd just confirm that.

Mumsnet forums are a fantastic support network for many people.
Why on earth should women linked to the forces be ostracized.
I think you are totally out of order with your comments Pan.

gosh really must go!!

  1. it isn't a "political" thread, just about not killing families, whosoever you are, no exceptions

  2. I really don't need the British army to defend my freedoms thank you.

  3. It occurs to me that it is inviting to 'turn a blind eye' to what the purpose of the British Army is.

    Still, really must be away.

    Laters.

What about abortion Pan? Do you think that shouldn't be dicussed on MN?

Report
jinxed · 22/06/2007 13:11

Why single out the Army?

When a terrorist comes into this country and blows up you or a member of your family, you will be ok with that? You wont sit there and ask why nothing was done to protect you?

Again, get a grip!

Also love the way that no-one is backing her up here. I think Pan knows she is in the wrong and we are right!

Do you think she's bored? What a sad little life she must lead.

right. quick??

No, not stopping, or wish to stop, others posting on anything, unlike posters here who wish this legitiate point to be aired.

abortion - a woman's right to choose is my starting principle...did some peeps think I was "sanctity of life" and all of that? Nope. Not at all.

Still, dichotomy exists.

Must be very bored. And agree, a very sheltered life.

Because my parents were both forces, Im assuming I am the offspring of murderers. 90% of my family are forces or ex-forces, therefore by association I must be a murderer too.

Great huh.

Scootergrrrl · 22/06/2007 13:19

Yes, I'm married to a murdered, my brother is a murdered and my uncle is also a murderer, as were both my grandfathers. So ostracise away!

Scootergrrrl · 22/06/2007 13:20

Ok - so let's extend this right to choose idea.

Everyone has a right to choose whether to join the forces or not.

Your abortion argument still doesn't stack up Pan. You are talking out of your arse, imho.

jinxed · 22/06/2007 13:22

goodess, and all those murderers who liberated Belsen and the other concentration camps.

How easy it must be to live in such a neat little black and white world.

Maybe he couldnt make it in any of the forces, what would he have done if he had been called up.
