Trying to work everything out...
Mumsnet has changed - I know this is something of a perennial statement but as the number of users has grown so has the input of advertisers and all the Mumsnet merchandise that has inevitably diluted the strong sense of community it used to have. You either like this or don't but it is what it is (I'm not a fan but just choose to post in other places that still have that feel instead and don't use the place as much as I used to).
Along with its growth it seems to have made some errors of judgement. This is either down to basic human error or some kind of issue with staff, we're not going to find out. In the past, when there was an error or a problem (such as trolling or goadiness) it was quickly picked up on and dealt with, sometimes by other posters and in an amusing manner (that was always my favourite!). Now the humour has gone or changed, can't quite work that one out.
Anyway, MNHQ seem to have had Stratters on their black list for a while according to some comments by Justine on this thread but not sure why. And then she (Stratters) posts something on another site and receives a ban. Does this mean that Talk Guidelines are going to be altered to warn us that our opinions or comments on anything public on the internet will be taken into account by moderators?
Sure, if you don't like MN then you don't have to post here but I guess the frustration has been building for quite a while about the way the site is changing. Of course you can decide not to use the site but when you've been a member for a long time it does seem really sad that people are being advised to do this rather than having their concerns properly addressed. And as for being banned for posting something on another site altogether; I don't like that one bit. Not sure how you can expect moderators to follow the whole internet.
