The next time you send an email about a poster to that poster by mistake. Probably best not to refer to your users as 'these people'

I never get any round up emails.

IgnoreMeEveryOtherReindeerDoes · 24/08/2017 09:28

Am I going to leave mumsnet because of this, then NO. Will it make me think about how I use site then maybe I'm no longer over invested as I'm bitter about not being chosen to test the fancy washing machine from way back.

But it's like anything on Internet unless you own the space you have to follow the rules or fuckoff regardless if they make or change them all the time.

I'm disappointed the word them people was used I would of expected sweary word like those fuckwits

Bitchfromhell · 24/08/2017 09:28

Maybe I'm just being very cynical, but aren't threads like this just further click bait for the advertisers. I sometimes wonder if all of the furores on here are entirely genuine. Sometimes I wonder if websites like this, not just mn, plant some of these "issues" to get users logging in and involved, providing further revenue for the advertisers?

Being viewed as "these people" stings tbh. In whatever context it's meant. I wonder if I'll get a suspension now and become one of "these people"?

WinterIsComingKnitFaster · 24/08/2017 09:28

Instructions as above if you want to sign up for them. I think they're fun, but I do like silly humour - don't read them on your work computer in an open plan office though.

endehors · 24/08/2017 09:31

So it all gets reposted into chat (fair enough) or AIBU (potentially nasty, especially these days)

A think you could say the same about Chat these days i.e. potentially nasty. A few of us think it's no longer the safe place it was to post.

Agree about MN staff and robots comment. The scant reply yesterday was inadequate and the 'spidey senses' remark thrown in to justify looking at PMs was just boggling... Spidey senses! Grin

endehors · 24/08/2017 09:31

I think, not 'A'

Ginslinger · 24/08/2017 09:31

AuntieStella Yes, indeed.

endehors · 24/08/2017 09:32

That's probably why it's been left to stand so long, bitchfromhell!

I was suspended for a week for troll-hunting.

I had made one comment on one thread that was a bit close to the bone.

The sneery arrogance in the tone whichever HQBot emailed me was unbelievable. And I wouldn't stand for it with any other company.

But I know MNHQ wouldn't give a shit. That's just a fact.

Time and time again these threads come up, where people are hurt or shocked at how they're being treated. HQ don't care about you, and they will never care about you.

Other posters might miss your invaluable advice or support. But as long as there are piles of user12345s coming after you, you're expendable.

ibbleobbleblackbubble · 24/08/2017 09:49

So fucking funny isn't it....this being suspended thing
it's equivalent to being on the naughty step at school
Just who do Mumsnet headquarters think they are??
I can't take them seriously, they have delusions of authority

ibbleobbleblackbubble · 24/08/2017 09:51

I think they've been over playing their hand for a long time
cruising for an ass kicking....

endehors · 24/08/2017 09:55

This is the sort of thing people have been saying over on Reddit (with one or two exceptions). It's so unprofessional.

IgnoreMeEveryOtherReindeerDoes · 24/08/2017 09:57

@bitchfromhell The only reason I believe it to be genuine is as see the name of poster it involved but can't remember where and i used to notice them on threads and don't believe something they make up. But I just a stranger on Internet.

It's been left to stand as punishment to the moderator who fucked up and will be now be used as part of mod training before being in charge of AIBU

EdithWeston · 24/08/2017 09:58

"Sometimes I wonder if websites like this, not just mn, plant some of these "issues" to get users logging in and involved, providing further revenue for the advertisers?"

Possible, but risky, unless there's a lot of posting by staffers to make sure the threads proceed in the desired way (now that would be sock-pupoetung and a half!)

And of course the more predictable effect of a thread like this one is the increase of subscribers to the two spin-off Reddit topics (you can see the 'numbers subscribed' growing

Bitchfromhell · 24/08/2017 09:58

cruising for an ass kicking...

What are you, 12? Threats of violence are a bit beyond the pale, don't you think? Hmm

I've thought this too. Ridiculous topics from "first time posters" that in reality should be zapped but aren't. Dragging in hundreds of new punters.

Flowers to the bereaved.

I well remember the fall out from the troll (user name began with an S) and how very harmful it was.

endehors · 24/08/2017 10:15

Fgs go and join them then. Seriously, the doors that way >

I already have, a while ago. I can be in two places at once, funnily enough Wink

Are those sections like bereavement not heavily monitored? There are few sections of MN that I try to avoid for personal reasons but I always assumed like most forums they are carefully moderated I know that on various parent forums I ventured on over years they are with some even are closed to members only as another way to curb storytellers/trolls
