Browsing mumsnet using the chrome browser on an android phone.

Opened a thread "www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/2729635-Im-being-watched-WATCHED" on an "open in new tab" but the new tab opened with a spam advert page of the kind that tries to make you not navigate away. I presume this is an unintended hijack of some kind.

I copied the content of the navigation field in case it is of use to you but it seems to be gibberish.

This seems to happen quite regularly - what kind of info will help you to stop it?

Bizarrely I was just going to come on to say that they're gone and to thank you, but sadly they're back!
This one said amazon but looked the same as before.

kally195 · 24/09/2016 07:51

Back for me. Android phone (LG4), Chrome, using on home WiFi (plusnet) which has full on security. Pics attached (hopefully).

Oh and I was changing between two open mumsnet tabs when it happened - they were the AIBU thread list and the AIBU thread about the user who was accused of being a prostitute

Soupandasandwich · 24/09/2016 07:58

And again here. No problem all week and first time I look at site this morning they're back. This time it was the latest Christmas bargain thread. I had been reading before bed last night and fell asleep, so didn't actually close it. This morning, just opened Chrome on my phone, the thread was where I'd left it and before I'd done anything, the pop up appeared.
I'm on HTC, Android, using Chrome and I'm in a London borough near the Essex border.

I'm also fed up with this. Nobody at MNHQ has had this on their phone? Really?

CrackingTheWhip · 24/09/2016 07:58

I was trying to get on to site stuff to see what other posts had been posted since my last one, it happened again.

I've had it again this morning too. Really frustrating.

I'm sure the bastards time these attacks to start up on Friday nights when there are fewer staff around

I haven't had one today but interestingly I did have the same phenomenon on a link from my Facebook feed.

alltouchedout · 24/09/2016 08:10

These are driving me mad. I just got one reading the thread about dads/non dads at the park. I'm in Manchester. This is a brand new phone so it's nothing to do with my phone itself. I'm using Chrome.

alltouchedout · 24/09/2016 08:11

Oh and if it matters the phone is a Samsung.

MermaidofZennor · 24/09/2016 08:41

Un-fucking-believable. The ads are back on my phone too AND it happened when I came on to this thread to see what other posters were saying Angry. Not only is my phone at risk but my Kindle Fire is out of action because the mobile site won't work properly (MNHQ - see my thread below).

Well, that's me signing off from MN until this is fixed. I won't be risking my phone after this post.

Piehunter · 24/09/2016 08:59

Happening again for me too, on a Sony xperia z3, chrome, clicking from active list to a thread, scrolled down about 3 posts and my phone starts vibrating before being taken to the weird page (not posting as it has my op address on it) have attached a picture of first thing that pops up

Bellatrixandstrange · 24/09/2016 09:10

I've had loads of these on the pregnancy boards the ad pops up then I can't get away from the screen without closing the window and it makes my phone vibrate.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 24/09/2016 09:13

Me too. Samsung Galaxy native browser. Happened within seconds. Not sure if it's relevant but turning off WiFi and using mobile data seems OK. (Apart of course from pointlessy using up mobile data allowance)

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 24/09/2016 09:20

Well my only on WiFi theory is blown.

I've also just had one whilst trying to get train times. It's not just mumsnet.

jobrum · 24/09/2016 09:26

Yeah back for me too. But I have only noticed them on mn.

And I'm back again. Sorry MN I know how important ads are but my phone/security are more important. And I've lost faith in your security. Off to find an adblocker.

shggg245 · 24/09/2016 10:13

Back for me too.

AngieMumsnet · 24/09/2016 10:21

I blocked the URL some of you have posted, are they still coming up?

Soupandasandwich · 24/09/2016 10:41

I am fed up with this, so I too have installed an adblocker. I'd rather pay a small membership fee than to risk having my phone security compromised so often.

treaclesoda · 24/09/2016 10:42

I got the same as lookdown this morning. Really fed up with all this.

GissASquizz · 24/09/2016 10:43

More for me too. Android using chrome. Mobile site.
