I am still Spartacus

Seems timely. Sadly still required.

I am Oscar, and I remain Spartacus. Really cannot be arsed to C&P or restate my position.... I shouldn't need to have to state the need for language to reflect reality in the first place.....

(Belated shout-out to seek for brilliantly using the Spartacus analogy in the first place!)

I am Glen and I am Spartacus.

Thanks to all the wonderful and articulate posters who have explained the issues so eloquently.

You can't change sex.
I will not be labelled to validate someone else's lie.
A penis is not and can never be female.
I will not allow my daughter to be made to feel wrong because she likes playing football and with toy cars.

I haven't been on the previous threads as I try to steer clear of bun fights.

But I get what you're all saying and I am Spartacus.

MNHQ, it is so, so important that, as a largely women's website, you hear us and stand up for women's issues. Please.

OscarDeLaYenta · 02/09/2016 08:16

Thanks Hairy

Still knitting; still Spartacus.

Still not cis and still a woman.
Still a mother, as only a woman can be.
Still a lesbian, as only a woman can be.

Women do not have penises and lesbians do not have sex with penises. Humans cannot change sex.

I am Spartacus forever.

HemlockIsSpartacus · 02/09/2016 09:49

Still Spartacus.

And I will remain Spartacus while children as young as 3 are being pushed towards a trans life because of adults narrow view of how the two sexes should behave.

I will remain Spartacus while lesbians are being coerced into sex acts with those who are physically male out of fear of being called "transphobic"

I will remain Spartacus while safe spaces for women are at risk of opening up to men.

I will remain Spartacus while men try to stop us speaking openly about women's issues without including them too.

I will remain Spartacus while statistics showing the inequality that women face are watered down by the addition of those raised as men, with all their inherent male privilege.

I am still Spartacus.

BaronessBomburst · 02/09/2016 09:56

I spent yesterday reading all the previous threads and am delurking to say that I am Spartacus.

DS went to school today with a pink beaker with butterflies on. But he also thinks he's a cat. Because he's 6.

I would like to nominate PoisonWitch's comment as our motto. It's short and punchy and stuck with me all day.

Widen the boundaries of your sex. Do not dictate the norms of mine.

averylongtimeago · 02/09/2016 10:07

I am Sparticus.
I am a woman, not a lesser kind of man, I will not be labelled as "cis".
This is the only place where these issues can be discussed, mnhq please do not close down this debate.

I am not "against" trans people, they have a right to dress and act as they like, without fear of attack or prejudice. But their rights are not more important than anyone else's and they don't have the right to ride roughshod over others.

makeslogicalsensetome2 · 02/09/2016 11:25

My ex is MTT. He acted male till the last year of our relationship and is a male now who wears skirts and heels. I was silenced by every psychiatrist we saw.
I have to add my voice in the hope someone is listening. I de lurked for this. I am what I always have been. Female. I am not Cis ( 'to this side of')

Urban Dictionary.
adj form of cisgender
'The opposite of transgendered, someone who is cisgendered has a gender identity that agrees with their societally recognized sex.

Many transgender people prefer "cisgender" to "biological", "genetic", or "real" male or female because of the implications of those words. Using the term "biological female" or "genetic female" to describe cisgendered individuals excludes transgendered men, who also fit that description. To call a cisgendered woman a "real woman" is exclusive of transwomen, who are considered within their communities to be "real" women, also.
Some of my friends are trans, but I'm cisgendered'.

www.thefreedictionary.com/cisgender

  1. Identifying as having a gender that corresponds to the sex one has been assigned at birth; not transgender.
  2. Of or relating to cisgender people.
n. A person who is cisgender.

MNHQ - why do the feelings of makeslogicalsense not count when it comes to your policy of pronoun use?

It is very important that people understand the difference between sex and gender in order to support young people like my daughter. For people like you Alive I am Sparticus.

HemlockIsSpartacus · 02/09/2016 12:07

Have we all seen this yet? Petition to change the Sexual Offences Act so that deceiving someone into performing a sex act will no longer be considered an offence. Angry But no.. women aren't at risk from these idiots at all..

I am still Spartacus
peachescreatures · 02/09/2016 12:27

That's absolutely grim.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 02/09/2016 12:41

Hemlock Shock

Buunychops · 02/09/2016 12:42

Still Spartacus, though I'm pissed off at being female at the minute.

Dreadful PMT symptoms that have been going on for 2 weeks 'cause I'm also heading in to Perimenopause, add to this a raging UTI that seems to have been caused by some gyny investigations that has defied 2 lots of antibiotics, and I'm 90% sure I'm also developing Thrush. . . .

Oh the joys of being a woman

And then I read 'A different view to "I am Spartacus" and my oh my do I get the rage..............

Batteriesallgone · 02/09/2016 12:51

Also Spartacus.

Thank you fellow women for this fight. I am not alone in my biology. I thank all of you for having more energy than me to fight this.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/09/2016 12:52

disclosing their gender? I think s/he means 'sex'. Anyway... 2 supporters so far... presumably indicative of the fact that most trans people are decent human beings who would be appalled at deceiving someone into a sexual act.

How is a law which applies to everyone, protects everyone, 'transphobic'?

Datun · 02/09/2016 12:52

I am delurking. dontrustcharisma's post made me jolt for the sheer infuriating, frustrating helplessness of those women in the face of a man laughing at the discomfort he was causing. Being allowed to cause. Being encouraged to cause.

I am Spartacus.

makeslogicalsensetome2 · 02/09/2016 13:17

HemlockIsSpartacus There are some who believe non-disclosure is ok. Having been up close to this I am not surprised at the petition.

verdict.justia.com/2015/06/18/is-there-a-moral-duty-to-disclose-that-youre-transgender-to-a-potential-partner

Asking questions is not violence. Making women and children move over make room without asking them first is self serving and egotistical in my opinion. Men are not being asked to do it .

MTT worry male bathrooms are not safe because men may assault them. Is anyone making men be accountable, and scoot over to make room for Trans people in the same way women are expected to?

Add to that only a small percentage actually have bottom surgery and there is no need to wait years to change their ID anymore. People don't have to present in a specific gender uniform and we are not allowed to ask as its taking away from their authentic experience. No wonder people are confused.

NeverEverAnythingEver · 02/09/2016 13:30

I missed the first thread.

I am Spartacus.

OscarDeLaYenta · 02/09/2016 13:37

Maybe we need to just try it out and see what earns a deletion, a suspension or a ban.

I have deliberately 'misgendered' a selection of MTT, who insist on the pronoun 'she' upthread. No comment from MNHQ. Perhaps this is what is needed to get MNHQ to respond.

OP posts:
HemlockIsSpartacus · 02/09/2016 13:57

makeslogicalsensetome2 It's an extension of cotton ceiling isn't it? Because I'd put money on this being a MTT led petition, and most likely MTT who like to pretend that they are lesbians.

MsWorthington · 02/09/2016 14:09

I missed the first thread as I was on holiday. I have nothing to say which hasn't been said, undoubtedly more eloquently, by others.

I am Spartacus.
