"We don't think that this thread is disablist, it is a valid discussion that we don't think should be shut down. "

yet it has obviously been reported.
cause hurt and upset

That CBeebies is just far too PC
Thread deleted
Message from MNHQ: Thanks so much for all the reports about this.

Although there has been some interesting debate and discussion, we do agree that the OP and some of what ensues is disablist, so we have decided to delete.

how can these be interesting debates??
\not long ago mn hq said that they were going to be quicker dealing with this stuff
what happened??

Quite agree, Samcro. Joining a campaign when they can't even get their own house in order...

Yup.

CoteDAzur · 17/08/2016 14:57

Yes, "wheelchairs on buses" can get disablist. "Buggies in disabled toilets" often are, too.

But those threads have been very educational for many people on here, who were hitherto incapable of imagining why they should have stayed out of the disabled toilets & folded their baggies in buses.

For that reason alone, I am glad that they are not automatically deleted.

NeedAnother - I believe my posts have been clear and many others understood them with no problems. If you are having trouble, try retreading them. Or just move on.

BeyondLovesSweetDee · 17/08/2016 15:00

I think certain topics like those could do with a guest post with a load of comments from "the sn brigade". The post can then be shut down with a link to the guest post, and if the OP does genuinely want to learn something, they can read that.

BeyondLovesSweetDee · 17/08/2016 15:01

And if they don't want to learn something, then they weren't going to from leaving their (often) aibu to stand anyway!

PigPigTrotters · 17/08/2016 15:04

Good idea Beyond.

People tend to get a lot more out of the enlightenment of the clueless than from a link that is often not followed & read. That is my experience on MN, anyway.

NeedAnotherGlass · 17/08/2016 15:12

Cote I said I didn't understand what point you were trying to make, not that I didn't understand your posts.
Some people don't consider themselves disabled - so what?
That is a very personal decision and not really relevant to disability and disablism in general.

CoteDAzur · 17/08/2016 15:15

It's OK if you don't understand, Need.

NeedAnotherGlass · 17/08/2016 15:19

But those threads have been very educational for many people on here
I'm sure they have, but they have also been an opportunity for people to share offensive views and why should people constantly have to defend themselves against that?

CoteDAzur · 17/08/2016 15:42

Of course nobody should have to constantly explain & educate. It would be wonderful if everyone were born with full understanding of every issue.

That is not the world we live in, though.

JacobFryesTopHatLackey · 17/08/2016 15:46

What the actual fuck was that I just read on the fraud thread? From an alleged HCP as well? And what the fuck is going on that HQ are doing fuck all about it?
Angry

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/08/2016 15:53

Indeed.

PigPigTrotters · 17/08/2016 15:58

Why haven't those posts been deleted? They're horrible!

Just5minswithDacre · 17/08/2016 16:11

I think there has been a definite shift in MN moderation regarding disablist threads. Threads are being allowed to stand that would have been deleted.

I think so too.

I'm still quite shocked at some of the responses we got from HQ yesterday.

BeyondLovesSweetDee · 17/08/2016 16:29

Still there Dixie in all its glory...

DodgySpot · 17/08/2016 16:40

Aye. Still there.

It's all right though. Mnhq posted about their campaign and tired stressed parents have had to explain themselves (again) which is great.

This place has been a saviour but I am seriously considering leaving for good. It's not a good place for the blood pressure at the moment.

Samcro · 17/08/2016 16:45

CoteDAzur so a few people get "educated" at what cost.
I have lost count of the number of threads about wheelchairs on buses that have been on here. they are awful as they make people like me feel so bad for our disabled children.\why should we be thrown under the bus just to "educate"?
mn is supposed to about making life easier for parents.....well don't we count? don't the parents with children with other disabilities count?
seems not at the moment, we are just a tool for mn hq to use to "educate"
