I'm not the most tech savvy person, can anyone help please?

Last night I was posting on Mumsnet and an advert for a sex chat site appeared out of nowhere which had a close up video of a woman using a vibrator on herself that completely filled the screen Angry.

How did I inadvertently do this? It was on the Louise Mensch thread, I followed a link to the tweet and read it, then went back to post my message. I think when I hit post is when the porn appeared but I can't be entirely sure. I couldn't work out how to get it to stop either for a minute, or how to close the page.

I don't want porn on my phone ffs! What can I do?

TheSpottedZebra · 21/07/2016 21:51

Another from me - the supermarket competition one.

link for tech

Please advise MNHQ. What the fuck is going on this time? You'll be losing more traffic if you don't communicate better and sort it out.

ASAS · 21/07/2016 21:51

Porn here as well. I think I'm going to give it til the weekend then just close the doors on MN. CBA with this of an evening.

AYD2MITalkTalk · 21/07/2016 21:52

I would have thought it could spread between Kindles? but I'm no expert either.

Just had a giant spurting cock pop up (ahem), right before dinner. Glad I wasn't having anything with mayonnaise.

HelenaDove · 21/07/2016 21:54

I have an Android phone and have used Google chrome on there to read MN threads. But have never logged in on the phone ever. Am now thankful im one of the less techy minded re. smartphones.

When i read and post on here im on my laptop. Ive just had the giant MN logo pop up several times. No porn though and hope it stays that way.

Ive still cleared my history on my phone and wont be going near MN with it till this is sorted.

AYD2MITalkTalk · 21/07/2016 21:55

I mean I WOULDN'T have thought!

oldsilver · 21/07/2016 21:56

I got a vile porn site on an FWR thread called A Safe Place For Budding Feminists. My phone is set to be safe for children but it still got through.

The only site porn gets through is MN. I also get a lot of the " you have won a prize" pages which are really difficult to get rid.

I have antivirus and Web scanning on my phone.

MargotLovedTom · 21/07/2016 22:02

I was redirected to a dodgy site earlier - we have the Sky Broadband Shield and it said content had been blocked due to adult or pornograhic content. That was on my Kindle Fire. I can't remember which thread I was on.

Wtf is going on?

Silverstreaks · 21/07/2016 22:03

I've had the supermarket cash giveaways twice today.
Just now a page full of bouncing boobies swiftly followed by a gushing penis.
Please sort it out. If I want smut I'll look for it. I certainly don't want it thrust upon me.

.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 21/07/2016 22:03

I got the Tesco ad about 10 minutes ago.

Phone is Samsung Galaxy 6 using the native browser.

sunnydayinmay · 21/07/2016 22:04

Just had porn here too. Android using Chrome. No idea whether I accidentally clicked on an ad.

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 21/07/2016 22:05

I've got what is undoubtedly a dodgy ad.

Ginmakesitallok · 21/07/2016 22:06

Cleared my cache earlier today, no dodgy downloads, no problems with oher sites and I'm still getting the crap you've won a prize shite on mn. Can't you just turn off ads??

Glovebug · 21/07/2016 22:06

I clicked on a thread just now and it took me to a dodgy page that kept making my phone vibrate saying "You're a winner". Everything I tried to get out of it, it would pop up again

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 21/07/2016 22:07

Very very annoying as I couldn't seem to browse away, and have had to come onto my laptop to get onto mumsnet to update my live labour thread!

Don't attempt to browse away. As soon as it appears switch off the phone's WiFi and mobile data so your phone has no data connection. Then use whatever cleaner app or other method in settings to delete all cache , cookies and browsing history.

NorthernChinchilla · 21/07/2016 22:08

I got the Tesco one about five minutes ago when I was on a miscarriage thread ffs. Turned off phone then closed the tab.
Galaxy A3 6, Chrome

Whoknowswhoknows · 21/07/2016 22:09

I just had porn on my phone from a MN thread too. I didn't think I'd clicked on anything, it just popped up.

ohidoliketobe · 21/07/2016 22:10

Cache cleared. Still getting pop ups.
FFS Mumsnet. This is bullshit now. 1 update all day? Hmm

StressheadMcGee · 21/07/2016 22:13

I've just had the "you're a winner " buzzy pop up without clicking on any links - I was reading the FGM thread about prosecutions, using Chrome on my Samsung Galaxy S6. I screenshotted the page and as much of the url as I could.

girlandboy · 21/07/2016 22:14

I've had the Tesco pop up on a Motorola android on Chrome. Had to shut down the phone as there was no way around it.

Also twice noticed on laptop that when clicking on next page on a thread, the next page is bloody HUGE!! All I can see is a HUGE MUMSNET LOGO. This is on Chrome too and there's nothing I can do apart from close down the page.

I think we ought to have a Mumsnet update please.......

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 21/07/2016 22:20

This has been happening to me today and yesterday, too (and weirdly it has my email address in a contact form type thing at the bottom?) - anyone else had this?

Yes , referring back to that odd layout Talk Talk mentioned. Loads of times in the last few days

AYD2MITalkTalk · 21/07/2016 22:24

I've been trying to find out the legal situation regarding serving pornography on a website without an over-18 clickthrough requirement, in the UK (fuck knows what Google thinks about me now I've been doing searches including the terms "under 18", "illegal" and "porn" - I expect a knock on the door at any minute), but I'd be interested to know, seeing that people have been pointing out they've been browsing MN with their children around.
