I see Northern Irish posters are looking for their own section on Mumsnet.
May we have an Irish section please ?There appear to be lots of Irish posters on this brilliant forum.

I remember LaQueens thread. That was a long time ago.

The current threads about Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston all have Tayto in the title. ,confused me at first.

Def keen for n an Irish section.

Will we have a nice early Christmas thread in it? (runs from Maryz) Xmas Grin

The Tayto thread isn't about crisps? That is disappointing?
We really need to start more Irish threads...
"Tayto or Kings?"
"Hang sandwiches, butter or mayo?"
"What do you or in your breakfast roll?" Etc

Waves to me neighbours! Missed you at the people's park!

I had the same thoughts when I saw the tayto thread - had to pop in and see why Mr. Tayto had so many posts on his thread!

I'll provide the brunches and the loop the loops. I only discovered recently they are an Irish phenomenon!!

I third craicnet Grin

I thought there used to be one in MN local but no one used it. Or something like that.

Yes, those Tayto threads are disconcerting...my eye stops on the title every time.
But round here, we've graduated to hang sangwiches with O'Donnell's crisps (cos we're modern)

Irish thread titles...
"The Bosco tune is stuck in my head"
" Name a sister for Conor and Oisin"
"What to do in Ballyferriter in the rain"

She keeps changing her name.

I think the reason for numerous chemists in small towns is because they used to sell a lot of farming stuff- do you remember they would have human products on display on one side of the shop front and then animal products on the other side? You don't see it now- or maybe I just haven't noticed it in ages- but I presume that was how there were so many chemists in the first place.

Anyone remember the farming pharmaceuticals being advertised on the radio too? Do your cattle suffer from LIVER FLUKE? always delivered in an ominous tone.

I was also disappointed at the Tayto thread.

I've just done a quick estimate of the number of chemists & hairdressers in our nearest small town. I reckon there are four chemists and at least seven hairdressers Confused

The Irish local board hasn't been posted on for over a year, and there are lots of threads with no replies at all. It's a bit of a sad place really.

I'm a King fan too maryz

I love a tuna, cheese and King crisp sandwich.

I'm a classy bird.

Hmm. I've no theory for the hairdressers.

Maisie, I think I heard or dreamt an ad on the radio recently about the dreaded fluke. I was nearly waiting for Harbour Hotel to come on afterwards.

I asked before about the Irish board and HQ pm'ed me. It was under a different name now so I'll try to dig out the email but it was basically a "it's a good idea, would you like to get some people together to see if it's a starter? Bear in mind that it's a fuck ton of work though because you will find it hard to get your irish local businesses or creche etc advertising their wares on what is a predominately UK based site".

Or words to that effect anyway

Just looking at my emails
I asked about it as well in 2011 as I wanted to advertise a local to me event.

We called the people who ran the local pages Tsarinas. Do we still do that??

ah thanks maisie Smile

The leQ thread was very funny - it was the first time it was really clear she played up to the parody of herself. It was 99% piss take but she was torn apart, not so much by the Irish MNers as I recall but a small group who hated her. Dunno if she's still here - don't recognise her posts anymore.
