I see Northern Irish posters are looking for their own section on Mumsnet.
May we have an Irish section please ?There appear to be lots of Irish posters on this brilliant forum.

My God Harbour Hotel takes me back! Mam use to listen every day. It would be on when I came home from school for lunch.

The chemist thing is bizarre. I grew up in north Dublin and there is a parade of shops up the road. Started off with butchers, small supermarket, news agent and a hairdressers over the supermarket. That was in the 1960s. Supermarket is now a Spar. Newsagent became a chemist. Butchers became a Video shop for a few years and is now....... A chemist. Two chemists divided by a Spar. It's bonkers.

Haven't had King crisps for years. Tayto all the way for us. Grew up across the road from the factory. And Cadburys.

We def need Craicnet.

Gutted the laqueen thread was so long ago, I'm sitting here bursting to point out you can rent Lismore castle - if it's good enough for the Duke of Devonshire...

About the advertising - isn't it all Google ads now anyway? Would we really have to ring Tony Kealy and those ourselves to persuade them to go on it? Hopefully that was only back in the day...

Yeah I'm all for an Irish corner of this place. Count me in too

I remember LaQueens thread. I may even have posted on it in semi-outrage (several name changes ago) but I can't quite remember. This is actually the most Irish username I've ever had so fierce timely indeed.

And surely it should be like the rugby - North and South?

It'll probably be very Dublin-centric anyway, judging from the ice cream discussion. Let me point out Gino's from Waterford are now nationwide, selling lovely Italian ice cream - they're in Grafton Street!

La Queen's post ( though I didn't see it ) doesn't surprise me.
I hate how some middle/ upper middle class English people have this air of superiority over the Irish.
I noticed it on a Mark Warner TYPE of holiday.( not an actual Mark Warner holiday).
I was also gobsmacked at how many parents put their children in the creche for the whole day on their FAMILY holiday.

PlanB, I didn't know Gino's was from Waterford. I presumed being on Grafton St that it's a UK company like all the bloody rest.

Ah no. It won't be Dublin-centric. The ice cream thing was just one chat. I think a single board for north and south is definitely the way to go. Ok schools etc are different but that's not a reason to keep it just to the Republic.

I'd be up for an Irish board. I used to post on MagicMum years ago, but stopped posting once I recognised 2 cousins and 3 neighbours on there.

That is the slight drawback of a small country.... Grin

I agree Mary.
Somewhere we could discuss this push to get Enda out. Nothing to do with the good of the country. Fine Gael watching it's back as Micheál Martin is up in the polls and FF could swan in if the government falls - a distinct posssibity because it's propped up by such a diverse group.

Has anyone done on line dating in Ireland? I can't imagine how everyone isn't someone's cousin or neighbour or ex-colleague.

Surely we just say

'Go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on'

until they give us it???

I briefly online dated. I was texting a guy and then he was really horrible to me in the texts for no reason at all so obviously I didn't meet him. Couple of months later went to a party and he was there! Ugh.

Irish poster here too. Just to say Magicmum is dead, completely ruined by the new owners but there is another newish much more active and popular Irish board which is semi private in that I think you need to be a member to see most posts. It's called Heymammy.com if anyone is interested!

I can put up with you taking the piss out of an English woman (albeit one that hasn't lived there for ten years) if I can hang out and get all the local knowledge Grin
