I am absolutely disgusted that you have removed the recent Media Requests thread.

Wasn't in the spirit of the site? That thread was the EPITOMY of the site.
The replies there were a million times more 'empowering' than some poor woman with frizzy hair bring made to dance around in a cheap bra and knickers.

I am fed up of mumsnet being so disingenuous. I refuse to believe that there were many reports requesting that the thread be removed.
I believe that the company behind it asked for it to be removed.

Why not just say that? Why not stand up for your members?

This constant crap from MNHQ is really putting me off.

Sadiecakes from the Daily Fail asked for stories of LAVISH (in all caps) push presents - BUT NOT JEWELLERY. For example - a horse, Loubotins, and some other such twaddle.

MN-taking-the-piss hilarity ensued with no one wanting a fucking present from their OH for pushing out their child.

Poor sadie was all blinkey eyed and offended and PMed posters and evoked the "mum card" i.e. "Aren't we all MUMS?" and got her arse handed to her on a plate.

She created a sock puppet to defend herself though which was oh so hilaire.

And then whined until MN took the post down.

Then MN put up a VIPER warning on media requests.

It was quite funny and painful too. She posts a lot of awful shite on the DailyFail, harmful to many women and when she was called up on it, got a wee bit of Twitter fodder from it for being "bullied" by TROLLS. She kept calling everyone TROLLS.

And that will probably get deleted so read quickly.

lilac The lavish push present thread, the OP (sadiecakes), wanted to hear from women who had been gifted with louboutin shoes or a horse or a trip to New York for giving birth.

Everyone said it was ridiculous and it was fairly light hearted until she sent some of us nasty insults via PM. She got very angry after we shared one of her articles which was about how disgusting pregnant women who don't exercise are. She then proceeded to complain about MN on her twitter page and the thread got zapped.

Ah, yes, as gunting says, it was lighthearted until Sadiecakes started slinging shit.

I think it's already been said but just to confirm in the furore surrounding LAVISHgate, MN did confirm that Media Requests are not paid for.

I'm overweight, ageing, scared from childhood injury: to be honest my freckles are the only thing I don't think of as an imperfection. I found the request deeply insulting and hurtful but some of the replies were superb.

Sadiecake's other request is still there...

I have been literally hooting through this thread (esp limericks and haikus). I am so glad the thread has been reinstated; I had hidden it early with a major eye roll.

Look what appeared in the Daily Fail this morning. I never did understand why MNHQ deleted the media request related to it!
