The deleted Media Requests thread

I am absolutely disgusted that you have removed the recent Media Requests thread.

Wasn't in the spirit of the site? That thread was the EPITOMY of the site.
The replies there were a million times more 'empowering' than some poor woman with frizzy hair bring made to dance around in a cheap bra and knickers.

I am fed up of mumsnet being so disingenuous. I refuse to believe that there were many reports requesting that the thread be removed.
I believe that the company behind it asked for it to be removed.

Why not just say that? Why not stand up for your members?

This constant crap from MNHQ is really putting me off.

DO YOU HATE YOUR BODY will be a programme featuring Anne Robinson. So that's all right then.

There are two requests up, currently, on Media Stuff in Classifieds.

DianaTrent · 11/03/2016 13:33

I missed the haikus! Inspired Grin

Anne Robinson has had plastic surgery

CoteDAzur · 11/03/2016 13:36

These were good, too Grin

Ugly old harpies
Do not get discussed, in posh
London offices.

ILikeUranus · 11/03/2016 13:38

That thread was hilarious, if anyone reported it, it would only have been to request it be moved to classics.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 11/03/2016 13:38

I'm not quite as furious as the op, but I do think it should have stayed.

This is what I was posting before it went poof:
Yeah you need to keep it HQ. It has educational value for any would be twats.

Perhaps you could link it from your thread warning? A case study as it were.

megletthesecond · 11/03/2016 13:40

cote next time I see their products in Boots I'll remember that and start snurking.

gunting · 11/03/2016 13:40

Oh for fuck sake not this again.

I just came to check back on the thread and didn't expect it to be gone. That thread should have gone into classics if anything. As should sadiecakes.

Didn't MNHQ state that media requests aren't paid for after lavish gate?

At least hairy's poem was salvaged from the wreckage.

GiantGibbousFlaps · 11/03/2016 13:43

Thanks to Cote for preserving the poem. I hadn't saved it. Ta mate.

CoteDAzur · 11/03/2016 13:44

See you around GGF. Love the name Grin

I started a thread back in January after the push presents thread and IonaMumsnet commented that MNHQ were quiet happy that Media requests should expect to receive 'robust' responses as long as they didn't break talk guidelines.

Does taking the piss break talk guidelines or were you guys being nasty to the nice Media peeps? Go on, fess up.

My haikus! I thought lost
Returned to me. Despite my
wonky fanjo lips.

IAmAHologram · 11/03/2016 14:01

I'm not sure I can still write in normal sentences, but yes, I'm not falling for the 'it was reported' line.

Delete away, MNHQ, but don't lie to us. It's not nice.

Jesus. That's what I say to my 4 year old.

saffynool · 11/03/2016 14:02

I've just logged in to check on that thread - am really, really disappointed it's gone. I know it's a cliche but it really did make me cry laughing - I was sitting on my own in my dining room with shaking shoulders and tears running down my cheeks. It was fucking hilarious - and right on the money.

MNHQ - I can't remember a thread for a long time more in the spirit of the site. I think you are increasingly in danger of forgetting why MN exists.

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 11/03/2016 14:02

I'll hazard a guess that it was the posting of brand manager from Oglivy's picture and the dissection of his 'ahem' imperfections Grin

Thread should have stayed up though - was MN at its finest.

Tiggywinkler · 11/03/2016 14:02

My four nipples and I are gutted that we missed that thread.

In homage:

My numerous 'flaws' do include
(in particular, the ones that are rude)
My big hairy tits
And my pile-ridden bits -
Put them on your advert, you prudes.

Quietwhenreading · 11/03/2016 14:02

Arf I rather suspected as much.

Would IonaMumsnet or the duty HQer like to make comment on policy in relation to media requests? again

I get that it's an income stream, fair enough, but some most of the media requests are unmitigated drivel. Exploitative drivel at that.

Requestors should be warned that the "nest of vipers" tag is well earned and they post at their own risk.

catch42 · 11/03/2016 14:03

Bollocks was it reported.

Well, not by MNers, anyway...

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 11/03/2016 14:03

Ogilvy even

InvictusVersinium · 11/03/2016 14:04

He put his fucking name on the sexist post! And MNHQ have put a warning up.

And that individual post was deleted.
