The deleted Media Requests thread

I am absolutely disgusted that you have removed the recent Media Requests thread.

Wasn't in the spirit of the site? That thread was the EPITOMY of the site.
The replies there were a million times more 'empowering' than some poor woman with frizzy hair bring made to dance around in a cheap bra and knickers.

I am fed up of mumsnet being so disingenuous. I refuse to believe that there were many reports requesting that the thread be removed.
I believe that the company behind it asked for it to be removed.

Why not just say that? Why not stand up for your members?

This constant crap from MNHQ is really putting me off.

Can't you just be honest about why you have deleted it MNHQ?

Agree. Hard to imagine that many MN reported it and wanted it deleted!

As I've just mentioned on the DO YOU HATE YOUR BODY thread, the more of these threads you let stand, the more opportunity requesters will have to see what MN will cooperate with and what's going to lead to their (perfect or not) arses being handed to them. Which might give them a bit more incentive to check their copy with somebody first.

I'm so glad the poem survived. I agree that the thread should have been left to stand, even if the posts naming companies had to be edited slightly (although I'd prefer they were left too).

Several posters might have reported it. Several newly registered poster I'd bet.

It really should have been left to stand. Or at the very least deleted without lying to regular users. It was exactly in the spirit of MN.

My money's on this thread being deleted.

I always miss the brilliant MN threads.

They did the same with Sadiecakes request for women who had received LAVISH push presents...

I don't believe for a second that any Mumsnetter reported that thread - the response was fabulous, the OP, not so much.

I am so disappointed that the thread was removed before I had a chance to sign up with my unruly curly hair. I cry myself to sleep every night about it.

The OP of that thread was so unbelievably badly judged, it was awesome waiting for the thread to unfold after the initial post.

I was gutted when it was removed.

I've never felt 'empowered' by an advert featuring very attractive women bemoaning imaginary 'imperfections'.

I really bloody hate the word 'empower' too.
