Heads up - new MN ios Talk app is shortly to be released into the app store

Hi Folks,
Our new Talk app is now live in the App Store. If you used the old app and didn't delete it then it should auto-update (depending on your settings) but otherwise you can download it from the app store.

This is a obviously a first live version - we plan to keep updating it, adding new features and addressing any user issues, so all feedback is most welcome.

Plus, we are planning to build an Android version too in the next few months - thanks for your patience re that Android users - we'll keep you updated on the progress and will be looking for Android testers in due course.

How exciting

Definitely needs lines between posts and all the colours you can choose are too dark - v headache inducing. Also when I clicked onto a link on a thread in the old app and it took me into safari (iPhone) then I went back into the app, it would open on the same bit I was reading - now it takes me back to active main page with the upshot that I can't click on a link unless I'm done with the thread or willing to sift through to find where I was. Also is there a bookmark function? I know the old app didn't have either but it would be mightily useful.

Anyone know how to keep threads flipped?

PeteTech serious question now - are you looking for Android devs for the Android version as I would love to be part of it? I'm an Android dev an can be flexible on rates pretty please?

Butterflies Thanks for the feedback -if you slide a thread or post to the left you'll find various options, including bookmarking. Have attached some pictures so you can what it looks like.

just a though: would it be easy enough to add a Q&A to the top right drop-down list? Things like how to bookmark and the function to be able to reply, close to read the thread, then find what you've typed in reply is still there for you to send. All the questions that people keep asking and perhaps aren't obvious to everyone!

Ooh loving the new app. I can finally understand the emoticons. Looks very clean and uncluttered.

RedYellaGreen there will be some FAQs etc published on the website for now. But, we'll be having a think about how best to introduce functions that aren't obvious to people inside the app itself as well. We had lots of ideas but, unfortunately, not enough time to act on them (especially since the old app went offline).

Or you could refer users to the thread we were all complaining commenting on when it was being beta tested...?

I hate it, sorry. I hate change and I don't like new stuff. I'm like Sheldon.I know I'll like it once I get used to it but it's like someone's been reupholstering my comfy old chair and put some poncy throw on it. I liked it before when it was moulded to the shape of my arse.

I like the flip thread arrows, though.

How do I name change through the app? I can't see anything that says 'my account'

You will get used to it, Feta. Remember you probably felt like this over your lovely old sofa when that was first introduced to you!

It's great how the old App used to delay at the end of the page of a long thread, and it could take a ridiculous length of time to catch up on posts, but now it is streamless and easy. Little things like that are much cleaner and better.

I think most people have voiced a desire to see an actual line between posts, their own posts being a different background colour, that sort of thing, and I dare say these points may well be revisited in the long-term (I hope so!) but on the whole, I've got accustomed to the app and so though I'd encourage you that you aren't alone, and it probably will get better in time

Hurrah hurrah the app is back! I mainly MN from my phone and hated the mobile site. One feature I would love is the ability for a thread to know how far you read in it. Makes it easier to drop in and out. Unless this is an option and I'm just not doing something properly?

PigeonPost if you slide a post to the left you'll find a "bookmark" option. When you bookmark a post it should take you right back there the next time you view that particular thread
