Mumsnet Talk Apps

Afternoon all,

In the wake of the recent hacking and DDoS attacks, we've been considering the security of the entry points to Mumsnet. Because the current Talk app uses http, rather than https we can't guarantee that it is 100% secure, so we've taken it offline.

We've been developing a new ios app using https for a while and we'll be launching it in a few weeks' time; obviously we'll let you know as soon as it's out. We hope to follow it up with an Android app in due course. In the meantime, though, we'd suggest app users move over to our mobile site. Sorry for the inconvenience; hope to see you on the new one very soon.

Only1scoop I'm using nothing at the moment, using the mobile site instead of the purple app is just not the same! Just came on here to see if there was any news on the new app launch date. Really hope it's days/weeks not months away!

Agreed that an email would have been nice. I have unstalled and re downloaded a few times and requested a password reset as I thought it was a problem with me.

I've just had to come onto the site to find out why I can't access the app on my phone or iPad. It's not practical for me to use the actual site so it looks like I'll be AWOL until it's fixed. Pity as I could do with some support right now. I agree an email or explanation somewhere might have been useful.

I know the mobile site is awful. I normally have about 20 threads I'm flipping about on in the App. I'm struggling with following one at the moment....the adverts are also very annoying.

Oh dear God, navigating through the browser is so clunky and infuriating! This may have been answered already, but finding that answer may drive me mad...

Is there an ETA on a new android app? I've had to join a parenting group on Facebook to get my debate fix, but frankly most of them can barely string a sentence together I'm finding the calibre of debate sadly lacking.

Using the mobile site has totally killed the time I spend on here. Sooner the new android app is released the better

At the risk of being a mither muck, when is the new app going to be ready? Any news yet?

My house is a lot tidier, I've ticked off lots of long awaited tasks and all that but I need the app. Can't get on with the mobile site, pop up things are doing my head in.

When is the app coming back? I've stopped using mumsnet as I can't access it via the app when I am out and about, or browsing in bed! :)

Am losing the will to MN... please pretty please any news on the new app? I tried to sign up for testing but was too late :( as I only come onto the mobile site every couple of days hoping it is not as slow as I remember. I have tried ad blocker and grazing but they're pretty slow too.

Any update on this? Loathe to use the mobile site. Half the time I click on a thread it takes me to a completely different one.

Why don't you put your name forward to trial the new app? Last I heard they were still accepting Guinea pigs

If I understand correctly it's just for apple users. I use android.

I have missed so much mumsnet without the app. I just can't seem to get on with it on my phone
