'Time to clean up the mess': will you join the MNP?

Exciting news: today, Mumsnet announced its intention to launch a new political party.

The MNP aims to represent those who are dismayed by the short-termism and petty tribalism that characterise so much of the UK's political debate. Its focus will be intelligent, long-term political thinking, and policies which prioritise the sustainable well-being of the country, delivering tangible benefits to both this generation of voters, and the next.

We aim to field a small number of candidates in key swing seats in the coming General Election on Thursday May 7, with a full roster of candidates planned for the local elections in 2016.

Find out more about our policies, and how you can help by standing for election or canvassing on behalf of your local candidate.

I actually think there is merit to all those policies.

Apart, of course, from the 50% of spaces on buses for buggies. If I had my way there would be no buggy spaces, just a holding area under the bus for buggies (folded, or unfolded with baby attached).

I so wish this was real. We'd wipe the floor with them and finally get this country properly organised...

Easter Grin (but sighing wistfully at the thought of what a real MNP could have achieved)

I think you should do it for real. Women of Britain unite!

Hope you'll have some good environmental policies and renationalise the railways? Easter Smile

Stratter5 · 01/04/2015 12:32

TB absolutely Honest, I've often thought Mumsnet would do a damn better job of it for real.

juneau · 01/04/2015 12:37

Tax-free chocolate, did you say?

You've got my vote, but only if you swap the word 'gin' for 'wine' Grin

proceeding · 01/04/2015 12:55

I really don't think this is a bad idea. Who's up for it?! Grin

Butteredparsnips · 01/04/2015 13:09

I know it's after 12 but I'll join in. As long as there is wine and chocolate. Grin

rivierliedje · 01/04/2015 13:22

There was a tv show on the bbc ages ago about a woman fed up with the way the country was run who ran for prime minister and won. I can't remember what it was called. But I remember thinking at the time that it was a good idea and might actually work in real life.
If it was a mumsnet party I think it really might work. :D

Aberchips · 01/04/2015 13:59

Grin - I'd vote for you!!

chairmeoh · 01/04/2015 14:08

If it's good enough for Angela Hernandez then I'm in.

Stratter5 · 01/04/2015 14:45

I'm certainly up for it. I'd be if no use whatsoever, but I'd vote Mumsnet

EElisavetaOfBelsornia · 01/04/2015 15:47
