'Time to clean up the mess': will you join the MNP?

Exciting news: today, Mumsnet announced its intention to launch a new political party.

The MNP aims to represent those who are dismayed by the short-termism and petty tribalism that characterise so much of the UK's political debate. Its focus will be intelligent, long-term political thinking, and policies which prioritise the sustainable well-being of the country, delivering tangible benefits to both this generation of voters, and the next.

We aim to field a small number of candidates in key swing seats in the coming General Election on Thursday May 7, with a full roster of candidates planned for the local elections in 2016.

Find out more about our policies, and how you can help by standing for election or canvassing on behalf of your local candidate.

I know it's a funny. But it'd get my vote.

YonicScrewdriver · 01/04/2015 09:56

Love it!

The party will campaign under the slogan 'You've let the country down, you've let us down - but most of all you've let yourselves down'.

LizzieVereker · 01/04/2015 10:03

May I suggest a Pom Bear logo? And a slogan along the lines of "Did the other parties mean to be so sh**te?"

gallicgirl · 01/04/2015 10:06

golddragon parliament already has a naughty step.

But seriously. I think I would vote for the MNP.

buggy prongs on buses - sorry but you lost my vote there, that would make them worse than 4x4s.

@YonicScrewdriver love the slogan

Albiebee · 01/04/2015 10:14

I was all set to see if you have a candidate in my area...

Disappointed Sad Wink

CwtchCorner · 01/04/2015 10:14

Will you have a booth at the polling station with a twee Cath Kidston decor, naice ham and gin on offer to people who are voting for you? Grin

I would actually vote for this party. I'd like it to form a coalition with the NHA Party, with Clive Peedell as Deputy PM and Justine as PM. I'm a little bit fond of Clegg after MNQs so maybe we could keep him in some kind of admin role. It would totally get my vote.

SoupDreggon · 01/04/2015 10:23

You definitely have my vote!

JugglingFromHereToThere · 01/04/2015 10:33

I was wondering who to vote for ....

You caught me just in time as I'm about to go out today and canvass support to stand for the Greens (for my local council) .... with policies like these though I may just have to switch allegiance .... Smile

Blueskies80 · 01/04/2015 10:37

I was disappointed when I remembered the date! parliament needs more women and the mainstream parties don't do enough!

Idontseeanydragons · 01/04/2015 10:38

After reading the ManifestoWatch website I'd vote for a Mn Party!
I actually once tweeted Question Time suggesting a naughty step or a time out room for PMQ's, astonishingly they obviously didn't take it seriously..Grin

I'd probably vote for MNP though. Hell, I'll happily stand as a candidate. Under my regular name though, ScrambledSmegsMP has a certain je ne said quois...

Seriouslyffs · 01/04/2015 10:39
Grin I prepared a brilliant Mumsnet af and changed the hoverer in my name. I was going to start a thread 'aaaagh has Mumsnet been hacked- we're not anonymous any more!' but then thought it could push someone over the edge...

I'll join up! (Or have I already? Hmm) And I'll vote for MNP!

merrymouse · 01/04/2015 10:45

Ridiculous. You could never unite the pro and anti loo brush factions.

Gralick · 01/04/2015 10:45

Mumsnet CEO Justine Roberts said: "Look, we have to do everything else anyway - why not this? Just look at the bloody state of it. Everyone else can get back to sitting on the sofa and watching Better Call Saul, and we'll clean up the mess. Again." She then slammed the door, before pulling it open again to accuse MPs of treating the country like a hotel.

Totally brilliant Easter Grin

JugglingFromHereToThere · 01/04/2015 10:46

Disappointed though in your policy of free child-care for all children from 0-16 .... yes, I know it sounds generous enough .... but dd1 is 16 today Thanks

Damn. I always miss out Grin

If she's no longer a child you could at least give her the vote Wink

alreadytaken · 01/04/2015 10:49

all answers to PM's questions should include the line "what have you forgotten" as I've never seen/ heard one that included a please or thank you.

Moln · 01/04/2015 10:53

Please forward an application form via pm. I'll start canvassing immediately. Well once I've finished my breakfast.

Would have been great to see this in the Daily Fail Grin
