'Time to clean up the mess': will you join the MNP?

Exciting news: today, Mumsnet announced its intention to launch a new political party.

The MNP aims to represent those who are dismayed by the short-termism and petty tribalism that characterise so much of the UK's political debate. Its focus will be intelligent, long-term political thinking, and policies which prioritise the sustainable well-being of the country, delivering tangible benefits to both this generation of voters, and the next.

We aim to field a small number of candidates in key swing seats in the coming General Election on Thursday May 7, with a full roster of candidates planned for the local elections in 2016.

Find out more about our policies, and how you can help by standing for election or canvassing on behalf of your local candidate.

Fool or not, the idea has merit.

The manifesto could be called "because I'm your mother and I said so".

deadwitchproject · 01/04/2015 16:50

now where did I put my polling card... Grin

Idontseeanydragons · 01/04/2015 16:59

The first election poster has to contain the phrase:
'No is a complete sentence'

Will the last person in Brittain....

Make sure everyone has been to the toilet before leaving, has a warm jumper and remembered their PE kit.

Brittain isn't working. Oh hang on it is now MNP is in charge.

And what was the poster about tony blair's eyes. I'm sure that could be improved?

Romeyroo · 01/04/2015 18:32

I am late to the party, but am another who thinks the idea has merit Easter Smile

I often wonder if PMQs would be a bit more sensible if only their mothers were there...

Jux · 01/04/2015 21:17

I would vote for you, too. I'd like to suggest a free chocolate prescription for women who are, um, well, for women generally.

ouryve · 01/04/2015 23:00

Sod the date. You're onto something, here.

PMQs "Now ask me again, in your inside voice, please. No. We don't need silly noises, thank you. Tell me with your words."

PacificDogwood · 01/04/2015 23:04

Yes, sod the date - I'd so join the MNP and canvass for you and stand as a candidate and lock the door on my way out if I am last to leave.
Provided you'd take bloody forriners like me….

Am I alone in feeling sad this is not real? Sad

Gralick · 01/04/2015 23:16

"No. We don't need silly noises, thank you. Tell me with your words."

Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

This is what the nation needs!

Gralick · 01/04/2015 23:18

I want the role of Aunty For Equality. Or Bullshit Monitor, I'll take either.

PacificDogwood · 01/04/2015 23:19

Oh, I think we'd need more than one Bullshit Monitor - could I be one too, please?

Fed up to the back teeth by bullshit, I am [grrrrr]

AvaCrowder · 01/04/2015 23:21

Fab! I could be transport minister. I know all Thomas's friends and that the wheels on the bus go round and round.

Stratter5 · 02/04/2015 00:41

Am I alone in feeling sad this is not real?

Nope, you and me both, Pacific

Talking of trains and bloody Thomas

I''ve been saying mn should run the country for YEARS!! Can you imagine it - all those shouting matches kept under control by us, saying 'Now, if you don't apologise to the Right Honourable gentleman opposite you, you won't be having any screen time tonight! And you'll have to earn back 5 gold stars to get the Skylander you wanted!'

RainbowFlutterby · 02/04/2015 02:01

I am so disappointed that this isn't for real.

Do you think you could do it for the next General Election. Please?
