MN making safari crash?

DishwasherDogs · 17/03/2015 10:27

Every time I have been on Mn this morning it keeps crashing safari.
It doesn't do it on any other website.
I'm using an iPad.
Any ideas what's going on or how I can fix it?

I get this cannot parse response page too. Very annoying

Still having problems. Crashes on about 80% of the pages I try to read.

Would be interested to know if traffic to the site and average time spent here is down these days.

I am finding that lots of sites are crashing now but MN is far and away the worst.

AgathaChristie01 · 20/04/2015 10:39

This is the message I get when it crashes.

MN making safari crash?
Poofus · 20/04/2015 12:50

On safari on ipad here.

Mine is actually crashing - I.e. Not giving me an error message of any kind. The screen just goes blank for a second or two and then back to the home screen.

I'd say it's doing it about every third link I click - but only on Mumsnet. No other websites.

ShamTech · 20/04/2015 16:06

Thank you all again for keeping the feedback coming. It really helps us. We are experimenting with a change right now and will review the outcome tomorrow. Could you please post again today/tonight if your iPad browser is still crashing from now onwards? Thank you.

AgathaChristie01 · 20/04/2015 16:07

Mine crashes out to a white screen, with the error message, I posted above, sometimes.
Other times, it just returns to my homescreen without any error message.

It almost invariably crashes when I post, and when I go back in, the post will be there.
It's a nuisance, to say the least...

Poofus · 20/04/2015 16:16

Yes, mine almost always does it when I post too, but then when I reload the page my post is there (thankfully! or I would have quit MN by now).

ShamTech · 20/04/2015 16:33

Thank you AgathaChristie01 and Poofus. Is this all since 16:06 when I posted or are you referring to before that? ie have you experienced a crash since 16:06?

AgathaChristie01 · 20/04/2015 16:40

Has crashed twice on me just now, (back to my home screen), and will most probably crash as soon as I hit 'post message'.

AgathaChristie01 · 20/04/2015 16:40

So, yes, since 16.06.

Poofus · 20/04/2015 16:49

Yes - just done it twice for me. I'm not on ios 8 though - I'm still on ios 7.

ShamTech · 20/04/2015 17:09

Thank you both. I know this is asking a lot, but if there is any chance of taking a screenshot of the page (top of the page, rather than halfway down) before you tap a link that makes it crash, I'd be grateful. If not, could you tell me what page you were on when it crashed? Thanks.

Poofus · 20/04/2015 17:41

Confused how do we know before we tap the link that it will crash? It's not the same links every time - it seems to be random.

AgathaChristie01 · 20/04/2015 19:38

I just logged back on now, clicked on 'Threads I'm on' and when I tried to look at this thread, it crashed, putting me back to the home screen.

Poofus · 20/04/2015 19:44

I just tried to click not his thread and it crashed: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/2360217-WWYD-School-pick-up-fiasco

I had previously clicked on it twice with no problems though.

Poofus · 20/04/2015 19:45

This thread also just crashed when I tried to post this

Wantsunshine · 20/04/2015 19:48

I've had massive problems on the Masterchef thread (waves to Footle) with the 'cannot parse response' message continually appearing when I try to post, and also being returned to the top of the thread rather than the active bit at the bottom.

The bugbear thread for me is the big gardening one, titled 'In the spring...' I've been on it a lot and it's got worse and worse, most of the time now it simply won't load, just whirrs and hangs with only half the active page showing. I then have to open another window and try again because I know by now that it Just Will. Not. resolve itself. Sometimes I log out and view the thread that way, and it seems better, actually.

Could the crashing/slowness/error messages have a connection to being logged in? Or is that purely coincidence, I wonder?

ShamTech · 21/04/2015 10:53

Thank you again. We're trying out another change today. Could anybody on iPad please post again here if you experience a crash from now on? Thank you.

AgathaChristie01 · 21/04/2015 11:09

Crashed twice in last five minutes, or so, on iPad. Back to my homescreen. No error message.

EcclefechanTart · 21/04/2015 11:18

Lots of crashes on ipad in last 5 min. Back to home screen each time.

ShamTech · 21/04/2015 15:29

AgathaChristie01 and EcclefechanTart what version of iOS are you on?

MrsHarryRamsden · 21/04/2015 16:06

I'm on 7.1.1 (is that correct?) and still getting regular crashes
