Morning all,

And welcome to the new thread!
Grin

As SarahMumsnet said at the end of the last thread, we have Tech on call for fixes this weekend, and various MNHQers will be here to talk and help wherever we can.

We'll be adding to the rolling list of bugs, glitches and dislikes (see below), so please keep the feedback coming. Do remember to list which device you're using, which operating system, and which browser, so we can identify the specific issues.

Right then, who's first?

Device: Samsung Galaxy Tab 3
OS Android Jelly Bean 4.1
Browser: Google

The 'new posts' counter on TIO is still stuck at 18. AFAIK this was mentioned in the first thread.

Can't click on a thread from active conversations - it either refreshes the page or (occasionally) I get a message saying the page has become unresponsive, & have to close it.

Bookmark option isn't there. It never was, though! I assumed it was a desktop users only feature - however I looked the other day & can't find it on the desktop site either. (Possibly my issue, admittedly!)

Randomly flicks up to the top of the thread while I am busy trying to type a post. It's done it at least 5 times while I've written this.

"Go to page [ ] doesnt work - this still an issue?" - Not a clue, I could see it before, now it's disappeared. But, last time I saw it, it didn't work (yesterday).

On my mobile phone:
Samsung Galaxy Y, Android something (18 months old), Google browser:
Mobile site unusable. NONE of the site navigation buttons are fully visible, nor is the MN logo. The circle with the downward arrow is invisible. Intolerably slow loading, eg 5-10 mins per thread even on WiFi. Continually getting the 'Security Certificate Warning' literally every time I go to a new screen or thread. The taskbar sticks randomly over the text. Pointless.

Thank you Flowers

I'm coming back for a moan later. I don't know what browser my phone is Confused.

I've totally given up trying to use MN on my Blackberry. It freezes.....downloads pages v.e.r......y......s....l.o.......w...l.y and doesn't recognise links, I tried to reply to a post once and had to hit the 'post message' button several times over a few minutes to get it to work. The blue icon bar is hateful.

Threads I'm on is still a total mess and in the wrong order but frankly that's the least of the problems.

mypussyiscalledCaramel · 24/08/2014 20:19

I was impressed with the new mobile site up until a minute ago. Every time I click on a thread it now goes over to the desktop site.

Scroll Excell android latest.

The new site is better than the old one!

Iggi999 · 24/08/2014 20:44

I'm still sticking with my switch to the desktop site, though I've been back to see if time makes the new mobile site any nicer. From my pov, it hasn't! So, desktop as it's closest to the old mobile site, though I'm sick of pinching and expanding to get the size right.

wifeandstepmum · 24/08/2014 20:56

I can't currently comment on threads (trying an experiment here)... On apple iPhone 4S with safari (screen smashed :) if that makes a difference maybe I'm to cheap for mumsnet?)

wifeandstepmum · 24/08/2014 20:56

Ohh it worked after a delay. Maybe it's aibu that I can't post on?! Didn't think I was that obnoxious?

PinkAndBlueBedtimeBears · 24/08/2014 21:09

The " at the beginning of the recent posts in TIO takes up way too much room, if you got rid of them it might make the screen seem a bit bigger!

This could be an accessibility issue because I have very large fonts on my tablet, but the reply box is so small that typing a reply is a nightmare. It only shows 2 lines of text at a time (just) so it's really difficult to keep track of what I have typed and reading back my post is impossible, as it editing. I'm using the preview a lot now, but editing is so difficult because the box is too small to scroll through.

I'm using stock android browser on a tablet.

I've mentioned on here and other threads that I can't now post from my phone (Samsung Galaxy Ace 2) - I've tried using the desktop site but can't post from there either. On laptop at the moment.

Sometimes I just need to tell people how wrong they are give others advice and support Grin

Help please MNHQ?

Romeyroo · 24/08/2014 21:20

Sorry, I have not read everything. My Nokia Lumia has just updated itself, and the font is now teensy tiny. Much more white space. I was not going to check back til the glare had been fixed as it makes me feel ill, but I wanted to see if the updates had helped. They haven't, there is even more white space and it makes me feel ill just typing that. Will check back in a couple of days.

Munchmallow · 24/08/2014 21:29

I've been getting the Security Certificate Warning on most threads for a while now too LegoCaltrops.

BankWadger · 24/08/2014 21:56

Told you I'd be back.

No idea how to watch a thread. Just had to switch to desktop site so I could do just this.

Threads I'm On. The thread title isn't a link, so touching it does nothing. This means having to hit a post within the thread to open it. This sends me to the post I hit either because it's over riding the bookmark or because the book mark function ain't working.

When reading a multi page thread you've removed the OP from the top of each page meaning all your legal guff bleeds into the top of the thread making it hard to find where to start reading at the top of the page.

Your new page numbering system ducks.

Your new page numbering system Sucks so much talking about it made my phone have a duck related meltdown. Bring back page 4 of 27. It's much clearer than that obscure little number on the last button.

Oh also it is impossible to yell if a username is clickable or not.

You've made all the text all one fontsize. The is a big part of what makes it do bloody awful to read. Old style had variation and therefore it was easy to distinguish all the different names/headers/text etc. Now it's all sterile and vile.

(PS I am replying to that completely unrelated email, just doing that on my much ignored laptop because believe it or not I hate typing on my phone)

BankWadger · 24/08/2014 22:10

Oh and another thing . It's impossible tell what is a MN sticky post on Active Convos and what's a normal thread.

RedKites · 24/08/2014 22:24

I use the desktop site, but just wanted to check whether the issue that the 'started by' column isn't showing (on the desktop site) is on the issue list somewhere?

The issue seems to be that the setting in Customise has been reset, and if you try to set it back to showing, it doesn't save. This happens to me using Firefox on a Windows laptop, and also Safari on an iPhone 5S.

lucidlady · 24/08/2014 22:49

Not sure if this has already been mentioned but "threads I'm watching" doesn't seem to be working. It no longer updates with the number of posts since you last bookmarked/clicked on "watch". It's a bit confusing.

I'm using Safari on iPhone 5s.

springbabydays · 25/08/2014 06:09

Logged out yesterday (for the first time in months) but just wanted to log back in to say I agree with emotionsecho's posts a couple of pages back.

I don't have a pc or laptop so my options here are limited. I can't use the mobile site very easily (have to reload the site after every post, threads don't load correctly, aside from the way it all looks now). I get chucked off the web if I try to click a link on the desktop version.

Not long ago I was involved with a thread in relationships where a young lady had left a dv relationship and was in and out of hospital with serious mh issues. As far as I know she only had mobile access to MN, which was a lifeline to her. I can't help thinking what if she had to deal with these same issues on top of everything else. I'm glad her threads finished before this was rolled out.

To be completely honest I think that asking us to spend our hard earned leisure time to point out the problems with this site (over an extended period of time) is bang out of order. It feels depressingly like work.

Sorry to be another whinger, but this feels serious to me. MNHQ posted yesterday that most users end up 'fairly comfortable' with new sites. That's not aiming very high is it. I'd like to be completely comfortable when I'm sharing my deepest darkest thoughts!

Finally, thanks to HQ for the regular updates etc and allowing us to express our honest opinions. I'm sure it's a difficult time. But one look at the length of your rolling list of glitches should be enough to tell you that something's really wrong here.

elQuintoConyo · 25/08/2014 06:14

LG5 Android here (erm...it's about 2.5 years old if that helps Grin ).

The blue buttons at the bottpm keep changing: i frequently get just three big ones eventhough i'm not zooming in. Or search/post/tio will be 'lit', but watching/active will be blank - but i can click them as if they were there.
I'm having an AWFUL time typing, the cursor will jump all over the place and suddenly i'm typing at the top of my post, or a paragraph where i started. Or everything will be deleted so i'll start again only for the old words to suddenly reappear - it's most odd.

I want to post but i just cannot anymore. This is nofun (i have a cool Woo story for the latest woo thread), but i just can't get past this and therefore cant be arsed.

I am living in a.pristine, clutter-free house though, due to extra free time from not MNing Grin

elQuintoConyo · 25/08/2014 06:26

Oh, and it takes an A-G-E to.load long threads such as ihis one, and one i'm on about ff/bf more fool me!

And it takes anything up to 8 taps in the reply box to actually click it and start writing.

I don't like the (I) haing tp click this open to find the list of how to changef font style - wht is the point? It is click, vlick again cos it wont work, click again, it flicks onandoff, click closed

I've had almost no sleep, (crashing insomnia) and am therefore quite grouchy, but at the moment my impression is that MNHQ have announced they've got a shiny new boat and have launched it. However it turns out not to be a boat, but a colander, and water immediately came through the holes. We are pointing out the holes, and the most urgent ones are being prioritised and Tech are working hard sticking plasters over the holes, but at the end of the day, it's still a colander with plasters stuck over the holes, not a boat.

Bookmarks not working:

Sony Xperia Z1
Chrome

CoffeeandCakes · 25/08/2014 07:02

I don't post very much, but I'm on Mumsnet a lot on my laptop and my mobile. (Nexus 5, Android 4.4.4, Chrome) Unfortunately I still can't use the mobile site due to the visual issues, and have had 2 lots of migraines while trying to use it. - posting from my laptop.

I can't pinpoint down why the mobile site is uncomfortable to use. The appearance is now a bit better with the less glarey white and the alternate blue bars in active. I wonder if it is the combination of moving mobile ads at the top and the fixed blue bar at the bottom. I would prefer if the ads disappeared on scrolling, or were at the bottom. The static ads - like chromecast and mumsnet seem to be much better. I have had a look through the other site threads about the mobile site but can't find a way to switch the blue bar off?

If the visual issues were fixed, then I think the mobile site works pretty well, and I now am getting used to the layout.
