Android App "unable to connect with Mumsnet"

Hello. I've had difficulty with the Android app today and can't seem to connect. Is it just me? I keep getting an error message (hopefully I've attached a screenshot). I'm running Android 4.1.2 on a Samsung, if that matters.

It's the same here in a huawei android phone its says can't connect then if you try a second time it kicks you straight back out.

Really sorry that we've been slow off the mark - the server problems last week were affecting everything so at the time it seemed like the most likely explanation.

Yup, same message as everyone else. It's not allowing access to be able to time out

You get the log in page, you plonk your user name and password in. Press log in and you get the try again message screenshotted in the op. You press that again and again until you give up and go do something more useful instead.

Android 4.04, I think - I am not teknikul, you may have already guessed!

Would there be any possibility of an update on here when the problem has been resolved please rowanmumsnet, so I don't tear anymore hair out trying the app?

Android 4.3 on Xperia T but I suspect the problem is not version specific.

Is anyone else more than a little surprised that they have only now figured out what the issue is? Does no-one at MNHQ have the ap running, or use it themselves, so they could have checked before now what it is that we are all having problems with?

Me too, Knock. I know this is a free sit and all but I'm quite disappointed that we've had the better part of a week of "we're looking into it" - only to find out no one had been looking into it. And still no one will put a sticky on the front page about it!

I can only imagine that the usage of the app is so low that HQ aren't really bothered whether it is working or not.

But the mobile site on a smartphone is a bit rubbish, the screen is so small it's difficult to hit the right buttons and I've nearly reported random posts dozens of times.

I think they thought they had it fixed and then the bank holiday got on the way, so they're late,to realising that the server load issues weren't the only problem at,the end of last week.

Punctuation disaster!

Another Google Nexus user here (using Android 4.4.2 if that matters) - haven't been able to access the site for about a week, getting the same error message "Connection Failed. Unable to connect with Mumsnet. Try Again"... repeat til demented. In the first couple of days I switched on and off, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, then spotted this thread via the main site and caught up with Bloglovin in the wee small hours instead. Do most people really just have iphones then? I thought loads of users would be on Android now.

yes I hate the mobile site. You cannot see half the stories being posted. I like the last 15 mins on main site.

Loved the app but if you are listening HQ could you make it so the text could be made bigger and the text will move if the android is verticle or horizontal like other apps do.

I am using the mobile site and it is nice to see pictures in threads sometimes but the random scrolling, refreshing and screen means i'm mostly sticking to threads i'm already on as anything else is torture.

Hi all. We are looking at the Android app problem and will let you know as soon as we have an update. It's not happening on all Android devices which makes it harder to track down, but we are on the case.

its still happening on mine.....samsung galaxy s4 and app from play store....

Mines a Sony Experia Z (I think, whatever the crapper Xperia is!) with the app downloaded via Google Play.

shamtech can we help by sending crash reports. Sometimes I will hit the retry button and it crashes. What has caused it to stop connecting when it was working before?

Mine's a Motorola moto g, if this helps.

Wonder why it's only affecting certain devices . I even tried it on dd's Nook earlier but no joy on there so haven't even bothered on dp's HTC.

My S3 mini has been buggered since Thursday night too

The mobile site is bugging me! I keep typing in the text box and it goes all funny - it types the first word then the curser jumps behind it and it won't type a space atvtje end of a line so I end up with two words and no finger space. The mobile site is very slow and doesn't always load. Sometimes, when I press on a thread title it opens the one above or below it instead.
Can't wait until the app is fixed...!

Agree, mobile site painfully slow and text box very difficult to use. Samsung Galaxy SII here.

If it's any help, my phone is a Samsung Fame. Wish I still had my iphone now ...

If it helps, I'm on an S3 mini and the app has been on the blink since Thursday.

I haven't read all the messages, but it's been like this for me for a week on a Samsung S3 Mini. I'm getting on by using the website on my mobile, but ye gods, it's annoying.

It's like youre trying to wean me off crack.
