Hello. I've had difficulty with the Android app today and can't seem to connect. Is it just me? I keep getting an error message (hopefully I've attached a screenshot). I'm running Android 4.1.2 on a Samsung, if that matters.

Hi all,
So sorry to hear we left you in the wilderness all night! There appears to be a problem with the app, which is also why the site is running slower than usual. We're working on it, but in the meantime it might be worth trying the mobile site instead?
for those who were up all night trying to get through to the site.

Oh blimey! We're REALLY sorry about this (particularly sorry to anyone feeding two-hourly during the night). Ginfox - if you're near MNHQ I'll pop round and perform a small cabaret for you myself.
You should be able to still access Talk through the mobile site, but we do appreciate that's no replacement. We're doing everything we can to get the wheels back on, promise!

Just posting to let you folks we're still working on a solution. We appreciate this must be vair frustrating, but we're afraid there's not a quick fix at the moment.

Right - really sorry that you've been left hanging.
We had been thinking that the Android app problems (you are all talking about the Android app, right?) were to do with our ongoing server slow-loading problems - ie, that people's connections were timing out while the server creaked and groaned.
However, server response times seem to have improved and obviously you lot are still having trouble, so it's beginning to look as though that's not the explanation.
We will try to have a concerted look at this today and come back as soon as we have an update.

Really sorry that we've been slow off the mark - the server problems last week were affecting everything so at the time it seemed like the most likely explanation.

Hi all. We are looking at the Android app problem and will let you know as soon as we have an update. It's not happening on all Android devices which makes it harder to track down, but we are on the case.

It's really not that, Thurlow. It's that these apps (iPhone and Android versions) were built by a third party, and not by our in-house developers. Making any changes at all is thus extremely time-consuming. The whole thing has been a big learning experience for us. (Our almost-ready new mobile site and apps are being built in-house and hopefully it will thus be much easier for us to make changes when we need to.)
We'll see if we can get an update for you now.

We know the current apps are not great. We sincerely expect the new ones (and the new mobile site) to blow them out of the water, UX-wise. We're very close to the testing stage with those now.
With a bit of luck, Site Stuff threads about apps will soon be a thing of the past

Hi there,
We've had a look and the connection problem is now fixed so it won't be that which is causing the issue.
Can you make sure you're signing in with your username and not your email address as this might be the reason that you can't log in. If that doesn't work, pop a screenshot of what you're seeing on this thread and we'll try to get to the bottom of it.

Many apologies - we're a bit baffled to be honest. If it was a general problem with the Android app we'd be getting many more complaints about it - so for now (really sorry to be so unhelpful) it's looking more likely to be a problem at your end than at ours.
