It's logging me out... again!

Anytime I navigate away from MNet (I know, I do try not to do it, but sometimes I need to look at other sites 'kay? Wink ) I'm logged out and have to log back in again. Even if I have two tabs running, it happens when I switch from one to the other.

I've tried it on a variety of devices and browsers;

  • iPhone running latest software update (7.1?) and using Safari & Chrome.
  • Kindle Fire using Chrome and Silk
  • Laptop running Windows 7 and using Chrome & Firefox. I couldn't bring myself to try IE.

It's not the end of the world, but it is annoying.

Tech did sort it last time, but whatever he/she/they have upgraded has reset it for me (at least!).

It's kicked me out as well...
Am I now not good enough for here?

I'm on Safari.

IamInvisible · 11/04/2014 20:16

It's not even keeping me logged in when I swap between the tabs I have open for MN now!

zoemaguire · 11/04/2014 20:22

Me too. Lenovo tablet.

coffeeinbed · 11/04/2014 20:23

Oh, just read that tech reset the cookies.

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 11/04/2014 20:28

Hello there, Tech reset the cookies and is asking that you all double-triple-quadruple check that you are ticking 'keep me logged in' across all of your devices. If this doesn't work I'm getting the pitchforks...

nannynick · 11/04/2014 20:29

On Chrome, Win7, it has successfully kept me logged in for 19 minutes now (and counting) so I would guess that as long as the browser gets the new cookie correctly, it will keep you logged in.

If anyone is on Chrome and is still being logged out, clear your mumsnet cookies:

Click on the three lines top left of the browser.
Click on Settings in the menu that appears.
Top right is a box that says "Search Settings"
In that box type in: cookies
Top item of the Search results will show Privacy
Click on Content Settings
Then click on the grey button that says All Cookies & Site Data
A box will appear, wait for it to load, then in the search box where it says Search Cookies, type in: mumsnet.com
Ignore things like www.mumsnet.com, local.mumsnet.com
In the one which says mumsnet.com, put your cursor over it so it highlights and then click the x on the right. That will remove the cookies, including the one which keeps you logged in.
Now go to Threads Im On and it should prompt for Login. Remember to tick the box to keep you logged in.

If that still does not work, then do the techy thing of Shutdown Computer. Turn it on and make a Brew while it reboots.

TidyDancer · 11/04/2014 20:30

Okay, it's letting me stay in now. :)

5madthings · 11/04/2014 20:31

Doing it to me on my Sony experia phone and my nexus tablet and I Def have the keep me logged in box ticked, it's most annoying!

FrantasticO · 11/04/2014 20:33

Logged out on iPad

SizzlesSit · 11/04/2014 20:34

Its just done it to me for thefirst time (and Im MNing loads atm)

Am on mobile site, using safari (iphone)

When I clicked on Log in I started to fill in my email and it automatically suggested my address, added the password and the box was ticked for staying logged in

WipsGlitter · 11/04/2014 20:35

Just did it again!

Primadonnagirl · 11/04/2014 20:38

Me too! On an iPad...won't let me report it until I logged back in which caused much consternation since I couldn't remember password! Checkbox showing I have ticked to keep me logged in.. c'mon Tech guys!,,

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 11/04/2014 20:39

Kicked me out too. It's not anything to do with that hacking of Justine's account is it? Hmm

hashtagwhatever · 11/04/2014 20:39

I am also having this problem.
I am on Samsung galaxy mobile if that makes a difference.

PatriciaKrenwinkel · 11/04/2014 20:40

It's like the Hokey Cokey in here. Android tablet, chrome browser.

JRmumma · 11/04/2014 20:40

Ive just been logged out too, on Nokia 920

MrsDeanAmbrose · 11/04/2014 20:42

logging me out on laptop (using Opera) and iphone (safari)

sebsmummy1 · 11/04/2014 20:42

I am continuously logged out using Safari on my iPhone. Has been happening for about three weeks.

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 11/04/2014 20:43

It is, Ilovemydog, in that Tech is larking about in the back end with cookies and resetting and other Impressive Things, and it is inconveniencing those of us at the Front End (there must be a nicer way to express that...)
We are really sorry for the annoyance of this, genuinely. It might be an idea to clear cookies, if the problem persists. I'm sure you know how to do it but if not, google clear cookies and the name of the browser you are using and you'll get the instructions. Sorry again, though, it's not what any of us want to be prannying around with on a Friday night.

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 11/04/2014 20:45

OH, or do what nannynick said, as that is a far more specific way of doing it. Sebsmummy1 you could give that a try too, perhaps?

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 11/04/2014 20:45

Thanks for getting back to me Helen!

I feel all special when an actual MNHQer addresses me personally. It's like meeting a minor royal. Grin

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 11/04/2014 20:48
Wink
nannynick · 11/04/2014 20:50

Fine for me now on Chrome Win7 but Android Mobile is logging me out.

Hmm, on Android Mobile trying:

End all Active Applications

Open browser on a Mumsnet Threads I'm On, it says not logged in so proceed to login...

Untick the Keep Me Logged In box.

Then TICK the Keep Me Logged In box.

Click Login. Looks fine.
Close Browser
End all Active Applications
Try again... and .. Hmm it requests Login!

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/04/2014 20:52

Still happening on my ipad.

GiddyUpCowboy · 11/04/2014 20:53
