HemmingGate: To ban or not to ban, that is the question MNHQ

CarpeVinum · 30/12/2013 17:46

Some of us would like to know if a certain politico will be banned, proper.

No rush.

We know you have a lot on your plate with ... stuff.

(I probably got two quotes mixed up in subject line. Don't panic! It's me not you. Am philistine. Italy is wasted on me. Not keen on art, prefer shopping.)

I'm doing my best as a twitter novice... The max word count is a right pain isn't it

LostInWales · 02/01/2014 10:08

First on the most read section now Grin his attempts to minimize are hilarious.

Mignonette · 02/01/2014 10:10

Santa You can break the tweets up into sentences that aren't 140 characters to make them snappier then tweet the whole statement in several tweets.

If you format them like this-

1)'Mary Had a little lamb whose fleece was white as snow'

2)'and everywhere that Mary Went- the lamb was sure to go'

Rather than trying to get as much in as you can in one tweet -

3)'Mary Had a little lamb whose fleece was white as snow' and everywhere'

4)'that Mary went the lamb was sure to go'

IYSWIM?

Spero · 02/01/2014 10:20

Confuddled - in 15 years I have seen examples of SW exaggerating or repeating misinformation. For e.g, one of my clients, it was alleged that she had been reported 'three times' to police and NSPCC for alleged sexual abuse of her children.

When I finally went through court papers with fine tooth comb it was clear that about seven years ago she had been reported ONCE to the NSPCC, the police had investigated and determined it was a malicious complaint. Because of things getting added into chronology on wrong dates that morphed into three separate complaints, which obviously looked a lot worse for her.

I accept that the SW was to ready to believe the worst (but she had a teenager making really serious allegations to her!) but I do not accept that anyone in the LA deliberately and maliciously set out to make things up and lie about my client.

That was about the worst example I have ever had.

If there are SW systemically and deliberately lying about parents, I have never seen it in 15 years. That either makes me an unobservant stooge or it may suggest that it is pretty uncommon.

Off to read Birmingham Post now!

Spero · 02/01/2014 10:28

Just posted - but they wouldn't let me until I removed the word 'snatch'!

So have substituted 'steal' which is ok.

It's political correctness gone mad!

Really good piece I think. Puts emphasis where it rightly belongs, on the seriousness of his behaviour not his chortle worthy buffoon persona.

BoreOfWhabylon · 02/01/2014 10:31

Ooh! Twatterers may be interested in twitting the reporter of the story

SantasPelvicFloor · 02/01/2014 10:42

Thanks Migonette.

Most read story in BM-comments are activated

Emphasis on salient points and corrections in comments

Good Work

DrankSangriaInThePark · 02/01/2014 11:49

I can't see any comments on the article but point needs emphasising that it was her other children's names not only hers because on that Friday night she had already gone to the press in her own name both in italy and the uk.
And that the doc he copied and pasted onto here was not in the public domain in either country.

sanssoleil · 02/01/2014 12:00

Some comments have already been taken down-one poster had amended/clarified the story

IamtheZombie · 02/01/2014 12:17

The 4 comments Zombie saw earlier are still there. Have there been others?

CarpeVinum · 02/01/2014 12:18

Drank

Has the jouno added to the story ? I could have sworn there was no statement from MNhQ at the bottom this morning. But then... I was in a mad hurry.

MNHQ - Thumbs up to the statement, concise, but all points regarding the important hesrt of the matter present, correct, and day-glo !

I think so carpe.when I looked an hour ago it finished just before that bit. But I have moved from mobile to desktop site as couldn't see comments on mobile.

CarpeVinum · 02/01/2014 12:24

Ah-ha ! I knew it.

Right, so we have the answer thus far to the question "is he banned", his one week ban has been extended with no fixed cut off point.

That is tweetable and back uppable with the birm. mail piece, if we need a hook for other stuff.

What did I miss while knee deep in pre schoolers ?

oh and the restirred forum is givingnthe synopsis a good chunkmof hits consideringnthe small size of the thread.mait is brum. forum, so what with hemming being local news... might be worth adding more comments.

the biggest independant news wire (thier words, I've never heard of them) just popped up on my hemming news alert

swns.com/news/lib-dem-mp-banned-mumsnet-revealing-italian-woman-baby-removed-council-42355/

Well at least they didn't ignore it. That's good.

IamtheZombie · 02/01/2014 12:32

Zombie has just tweeted the updated article.

sanssoleil · 02/01/2014 12:37

At one point there were more comments, none of them in breach of T&C

All of them intelligent additions

Waiting to see when other City Councillors pick-up and comment

PacificDogwood · 02/01/2014 12:39

I can see 4 comments - so there were more? I wonder what happened to them.

Good work, TeamHoldPoliticiansAccountableForTheirActions Grin

(we may need a snappier name Hmm)

DrankSangriaInThePark · 02/01/2014 12:40

Yes. When I first read it said no-one from hq was available to comment and it ended with the naughty step hilarity.
Flowers for hq.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 02/01/2014 12:45

Ahh, now hq have commented, perhaps its worth putting a link to the bham article in "in the news"? :)

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 02/01/2014 12:58

One thing, that perhaps someone with a bit more knowledge on the original italian case could comment on, both these articles seem to have gone with the original "evil ss steal baby by cs" explanation, which could do with being corrected. Otherwise he perhaps looks like the good man fighting against evil ss and getting banned for disagreeing with the women on mn, who must therefore be on the side of evil ss. IYSWIM? After all, he was arguing knowing that the original version was incorrect.

depankrispaneven · 02/01/2014 13:00

From the article about Brendan Fleming taking on the case:
"Brendan Fleming Solicitors said it would “fight tooth and nail” to reunite the mother with her child"

Yes, that would be the mother who doesn't have care of her older children, not least because they are reported to have been traumatised by seeing her when in the full grip of a manic episode. So on the basis that, even if the English court orders were set aside, the Italian authorities might well decide that it is unsafe for the baby to be with her mother, and given that BF doesn't practise in Italy, I wonder how he plans to achieve that?

CarpeVinum · 02/01/2014 13:04

Now there's a thought beyond

I'm twatting all afternoon, so can't, plus think MNHQ might actually reach through screen and strangle me if I start another thread.
