Did you ban John Hemming (the MP) for outing me ?

CarpeVinum · 21/12/2013 23:47

Cos he isn't on The Thread.

And I'd like to know why.

I am immaginging that the party whip we've been phoning, emailing and twittering has tied him up and run off with his keyboard.

Can I hang on to that fantasy, or did you ban him ?

It's not the end of the world to me that he posted my twitter account, knowing it was me and knowing it was my real name. But I will quickly drum up some minding if required to purge MN of his presence.

Spero is a true heroine.

LakeDistrictBabe · 22/12/2013 11:11

Yeah Maryz, although it doesn't matter for some people, outing people or threatening them to do so is not ethically correct.

In some cases, your identity is also 'protected' by authorities for some reasons (like in DV/rape cases; for some jobs, like Ministry of Defence jobs) and you don't need to fear you can't post online because someone could spread your real name all over the place.

If I want to publish my name and my picture all over the place is me doing it, not a derailed MP.

LakeDistrictBabe · 22/12/2013 11:13

I vote Spero MNer of the year.

Me too!!

MadameDefarge · 22/12/2013 11:14

And Carpe is pretty damn fabulous.

Lake has her moments too!

confuddledDOTcom · 22/12/2013 11:21

this ongoing thread has brought out some amazing MNers! I don't care what anyone says about this site, being too nice stops stuff getting done!

AlistairSim · 22/12/2013 11:24

He really is a low-life.

Keep up the good work, carpe, spero and all.

lougle · 22/12/2013 11:27

I'm glad that you aren't in trouble.

YoniMatopoeia · 22/12/2013 11:28

I too am loving carpe, Spiro, west, nenny, mme d and all the rest.

LakeDistrictBabe · 22/12/2013 11:28

MadameDefarge

Thanks

For several reasons, I couldn't be part of the whole discussion as Spero or nennypops were, not the least because I don't know almost anything about social services and family law (although I've been educated a lot recently!). I couldn't discredit JH or debunk his derailed ideas about social services/adoption targets either, because I have no means of doing that.
I deeply admire all those posters who spent hours trying to make us acknowledge the fraud he is.

On the other hand... I'm a fighter and far too stubborn to give up in any issue I feel touched by Grin and if JH was thinking that my head was rolling down before his he was highly mistaken Grin

WestmorlandSausage · 22/12/2013 11:36

Oh I thought this thread would go poof when MN woke up but I see they have deleted a comment on it already so assume they must have seen it and decided to let it stand.

JH is in the papers today giving soundbites which I assume is far more important than arguing with us mumz

I think thats my biggest fear actually. That after all the work we have put into the other threads over the weeks and bringing it to people's attention outside of MN too that his defence to his seniors etc is 'that they are just a load of harridan womenz with nothing better to do getting over excited' and that defence will be accepted by whoever (probably another man) is supposed to be dealing with it and it won't get looked at properly.

I was one of the people he attempted to out in RL on MN (unsuccessfully I should add). I was half expecting it tbf when I started tweeting about him. I don't ever post anything I would't say publicly in real life but because of my job I prefer to stay anonymous online. This includes twitter, but JH wouldn't have known that.

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/12/2013 11:53

Spero, Carpe, Lake et al have been magnificent. JH not so much. I think a Twitterstorm might be a good idea (disclaimer: know nothing about twitting or storming).

Can't help thinking how ironic it would be if the self-styled champion of parents against evil social services were to be banned by the UKs leading parenting website Xmas Grin

CarpeVinum · 22/12/2013 12:00

Twitterstorm hard when you are only just working out your tweeting from your twerking. And I am no good at eithet.

If anybody knows how to do it, please help!

Since my name is already out there... here is my rather pathettic attempt at making a twitterstrom innthe worlds smallest teacup.

Please feel free to point and laugh Grin... but please then tell me what to do right. Bearing in mind I am also trying to fix the world's most bastard computer with a the world's most bastard Os and trying not to cry anymore cos no computer=no christmas. So speak slowly and go overboard with the soothing nature of Twitstorm constructive critisim.

I am overwrought.

Bastard windows 8 bastard.

That is very kind of you but I am not a heroine.

I have just weathered his threats before. If the Bar Council want to find my conduct brings my profession into disrepute then so be it. But so far, they have not.

I am very grateful to Carpe and Italian as they stumbled across this from the Italian angle, not the family lawyer or adoptive parent perspective and I think that has been massively helpful. Particularly as it does seem he published the baby's name in a very misguided attempt to 'get one over' the Italian speakers.

I am sorry to hear that he threatened you in that way Maryz - how bizarre and frightening.

I am confident that everything i have posted is true and I can prove it, so I really have no fear at all of him suing me: I repeat I would welcome it as we need to get this out in the open.

I do feel sorry for him that he clearly had an unpleasant and upsetting encounter with a child protection team, and I don't for a moment deny that there are unpleasant and inefficient social workers out there.

But what he has been doing for past six years at least is simply wrong and is hurting people. He is detracting attention from issues that matter and he has to stop doing this as an MP.

nennypops · 22/12/2013 12:26

He's at it again - www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2527669/Newborn-child-taken-mother-hold-ruling-deeply-distressing-secret-court-case.html - story about the taking into care of a baby due to be born to a woman with serious mental health problems and drug addictions who has a history of two previous children being born into care and physically injuring a three week old baby.

Hemming has as usual leapt in with his rentaquote:

‘This is an obviously one-sided hearing – the state comes along and says we’re going to do this.
'The woman’s voice is never heard. This raises a lot of questions.’

This from a man who knows very well that that it is not a one-sided hearing and that the woman would have been legally represented. But hey, what does it matter that a newborn baby might be strangled by its psychotic mother? What's important here is that John Hemming gets a bit more free publicity.

Fortunately the majority of the comments underneath the news report demonstrate that even Mail readers have more sense, though there are a few who have fallen for JH's line.

JulieJingleBellsMumsnet · 22/12/2013 12:30

Afternoon.

Many thanks for your question. We're afraid we can't discuss specific posters but we do take breaches of out talk guidelines very seriously.

We're also afraid that we don't allow threads that pick faults in other posters so we're going to have to delete this shortly.

If you do have any questions you're always welcome to mail in, we love to hear from you all.

MNHQ.

nennypops · 22/12/2013 12:36

That's bizarre, with respect. There are hundreds of threads on here that are critical of specific individuals, including some that are posters - look at the flaming of individual posters on AIBU. You also allow threads that are critical of named public individuals, particularly politicians. Why should a politician be protected just because he chooses to come on here as a poster?

CarpeVinum · 22/12/2013 12:39

So..if an MP jions MN under his own name, and then acts unlawfully with woeful professional conduct standards on MN...everybody can discuss it...except MNers...on MN.

Sound like a plan for MPs who wish to vaccinate themselves from any critisim on here. Join. And then claim "picking apart another poster" immunity.

OP posts:
Grennie · 22/12/2013 12:40

I jave never heard of this MP before. I am beyond shocked at his behaviour.

WestmorlandSausage · 22/12/2013 12:42

Mumsnet could you perhaps consider changing the title of the thread and deleting any posts you think break the talk guidelines instead rather than deleting.

I do think that this is a matter of public interest and if Nigella etc threads are allowed to stand then I don't see why this can't either just because JH has himself chosen to post on here publicly.

This is now the 5th thread on this matter - surely you can see people want to talk about it and their concerns.

YoniMatopoeia · 22/12/2013 12:42

I am shocked

Are mumsnet afraid of being sued?

YoniMatopoeia · 22/12/2013 12:44

He outed posters. That is a legitimate discussion point. Why the deletion?

Grennie · 22/12/2013 12:45

I actually know a few people who are very active in the Lib Dem Party. I wonder if they know about this? Maybe we all need to tell people we know who are active in the party, about this?
