'Appy days - Android, iPhone and iPad apps released

Following on from the news of the release of our shiny new Android app, we are vair pleased to announce the release of the new and improved iPhone and iPad app.

All of our Talk apps are free to download and you can find lots more info on all things mobile here including an easy to scan and download QR code to get the mobile version on your phone.

I do not like them. In particular the grin looks as if it is polite. I like the old one, it looks like it is having a damn good cackle.

Oh rarely my old iPhone app did that thing where the header would get stuck! Used to drive me nuts as I then couldn't add any messages and I would have to delete the app and reinstall it to start again! So far though the new one hasn't done it for me......

I wondered why sometimes there was a random blank space at the bottom of some posts! (Penny drops) obviously the poster had added something in brackets at the bottom that the app 'deleted'. How annoying! I persevered with the app despite its faults before the update but I think I'll be going back to the mobile site, sorry but it just isn't usable (mainly because of the new smilies if I'm honest but the constant crashing doesn't help)

I quite like the look of the app, however it keeps crashing on me when I scroll to the bottom of a page and is chucking me out of my postnatal group. Oh, and what's with the weird emoticons?

I do like the look of the app, I really do. And when threads are small with very few emoticons it does work.

Hope you're not too upset by the criticism darrenmumsnet.

poor you have to press refresh, it doesn't automatically refresh when you click on 'active' anymore.

I'm confused - can't stay on the app long enough to try and post a message so I'm on the mobile site and all the emoticons you are saying look weird look normal on here? And I can see what's written inside < > brackets. Maybe they only look weird in the app so anyone reading your post on the normo or mobile site just sees it's before. Weird.

I'm going to try deleting and re-installing see if I get the old one back as prefer apps to safari.

Any word from darrenmumsnet? Or is he in a corner sobbing as apps crash all around him??

Nope have deleted and re-installed - still the new app which still crashes every time I try to open a thread. Grrr

I'm on iphone app, I like the look but like many have already said it keeps crashing when I try to scroll down fast, when I scroll down slowly it seems to be fine.

I'm glad to see a refresh button too.

Like it! But I've just noticed from a thread I'm on that if somebody types something in the brackets it doesn't show up on the iPad app? Means you miss part of the conversation.

Amandine, I don't get an add message box. The threads scroll down only so far, but not that far! I'm posting via Safari and the normal site.

Hello all, I'm typing this from the Mumsnet iPad and I can confirm that the crashing problem happens for me too. I've already been in touch with the developers and they are looking into it.

I'm also checking whether is not working.

I can confirm that we are putting together a list of problemsimprovements based on your feedback so please keep the suggestions coming.

I really like it btw, I can find things better and it's easier to read (well the bits that show up anyway ) just a shame I've had to come on the computer to comment on this thread! Everything else has worked fine for me.

jux it's not like the mobile site, add message isn't at the bottom, it's top right, click on the '+' and you'll see it.
