MNHQ PLEASE! can you put all the benefits cap threads in one place? (and I never normally shout)

Because there are so many. And they are so unpleasant.

Pretty please...

Grin at easier to shoot them . Agree KatieMiddleton that many of those posters are happy to physically corral those less fortunate . I just think it's too convenient to take a breather from the facts ( I don't mean in the sense of you *Huntycat , truly worn out by your efforts ) as if these topics don't cover every part of many people's lives .. no chat or hobby topic can distract them for more than 5 minutes ( which is perhaps all you " hide them" posters are asking for , a short rest from the bigots).

These threads are indeed useful for trolls / agents provocateurs but the the "give them enough rope" argument may apply

Not sure there's a solution the miseries of alienation ... once you see reality there isn't going to be much rest & it's a lifelong fight < most pretentious post ever on MN >< needs new category for self- shooting lefties >

Honeydragon · 24/01/2012 12:43

I think Pag is right and Dooin. Delete the ones sprouting like mushrooms (ffs on one of them a mnetter has gone mad and is shooting people Hmm), and do one for all and monitor it.

There are some very good and valid arguements and discussions being made by grown ups getting drowned out by the "my cousin Sharons yada yad yada....", smuggers and frothers. IF it's all in one place that it can be monitored and some of the intelligent comments might reach the twatterati that turn up n these kinds of threads.

plus I'm sick of hiding them

then un hiding them in case I'm missing something

then getting annoyed at them cluttering Active convos

KnottyLocks · 24/01/2012 12:46

'A mnetter has gone mad and is shooting people'

I had heard that.

Pagwatch · 24/01/2012 12:50

C'mon MNHQ,
What do you say?

OP posts:
RebeccaMumsnet · 24/01/2012 13:53

Hi Pag,

We would love to, however, they do fit into various topics.

In the News, AIBU, Politics and _Chat. If you see any that have obviously been posted in the wrong section please do report them to us.

We have made one of the threads a Discussion of the Day, hopefully the majority will join in with this thread rather than start another one.

Hully, please don't shoot me

Pagwatch · 24/01/2012 14:25

Oh Rebecca. Did they send you because they know I love you and would throw myself in front of hullys bullets.

I appreciate the discussion of the day thing.

Could you back it up with a polite 'why the tuck don't you find an existing thread instead of starting a new one, you shit stirrer'

Would that work?

OP posts:
KatieMiddleton · 24/01/2012 14:28

Oh how I would love to see MNHQ popping onto yet another benefit thread and posting that.

Or perhaps just "get back to work you lazy ignoramuses! There's taxes that want a payin'!" But I fear the sarcasm would be lost in the message.

Evilclown · 24/01/2012 14:33

With respect Rebecca, they are all about the same thing.

The current benefits cap. They broadly cover the same ground. I.e people not understanding that the majority of benefit claimants do not access anywhere near enough that amount. They are full of vitriol and inverse jealousy. Occasionally a poster recounts their child commenting on the fact that poor people dare to live in London or-gasp- asks if they themselves are poor. As if one should be ashamed of that. Personally, I would not only be ashamed, but mortified if my child spat out that crap. But hey ho that is just me.

Enough is enough. Surely that amount of unpleasantness, ignorance and prejudice directed towards any other minority would not be tolerated.

Pagwatch · 24/01/2012 14:47

I have been thinking and surely the McCann threads were in multiple sections?

Couldn't agree more! Please ring-fence? them. Is ring-fence correct here? I feel it should be yet it sounds not. Hmmm.

Sevenfold · 24/01/2012 17:19

well mn hq it didn't work as there are more threads.
tbh mn is boring because of it, it is just not a nice place

I was thinking the same thing. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease round them up. It's getting rather dull.

Also, please disarm Hully or tranquilise her or something. It's getting very messy in AIBU

TIA

Yes, one thread a day and some PARD, empathy and compassion too. If it's not asking too much.

Hullygully · 25/01/2012 14:47

Er er er er er...er er er

er er er er er ---er er

AbsofCroissant · 25/01/2012 14:51

MNHQ, maybe send out Darren (was it Darren?) to entertain Hully for a bit? She LUFFS Darren. I think .

Sevenfold · 25/01/2012 14:54

there are loads more today, I can only assume the op's are to stupid to notice all the others.
please mn hq do something.

Hullygully · 25/01/2012 14:55

Dazz has gone.

AbsofCroissant · 25/01/2012 14:59

WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM

This is like when I was informed that my usual barista at Starbucks, Kenny was gone. They said "we're sorry, but Kenny's no longer with us" and all I could think was "oh my G-D, they killed Kenny!"

Kept me entertained for minutes.

Hullygully · 25/01/2012 15:02

Don't panic everyone, I have created a lovely thread where they can all go and froth and spume together on condition they keep it off the other threads.

I think it's a winner.

boredandrestless · 25/01/2012 15:02

I would like to add my PLEASE to this too, sick of the sight of them.

Am off to hide all the ones in active convos now.....

FoofFighter · 25/01/2012 15:28

I'm really interested in the whole benefits situation but still think there's too many threads and am sick of seeing the same threads started over and over.

Sorry MNHQ but your reason doesn't make sense, there are posts about children for instance all over chat that could be in parenting>whichever stage for one example.

A Benefits topic would be a huge boost to Mumsnet. Why not, really why not? Why won't you put one on?

And not all of us wear Boden, have 50k+ incomes etc you know.
