You are sticking your fingers in your ears and going la la la and pretending not to notice that aibu is just awful?

I think that the fact people post there just for traffic becomes a vicious circle- the proper topics get less and less traffic as a result, so AIBU gets ever busier.

I think the only real solution is to streamline the topic list, but this is tricky too, as you often still see requests from posters for ridiculously specialist new topics, which could often be handled by just starting a long-running thread, like the Stately Homes or New Puppy-type ones.

I don't get why this is such a big deal.

I love AIBU, I know it can sometimes go too far but it is such a change from so many other sites where no one can disagree with anyone without getting moaned at or deleted. It is the main reason I love MN, that and the gratuitious swearing

If I'm feeling a bit fragile I do someimes hide it, the rest of the site is funny and supportive, so there is something for everyone (and having been on sites that are so heavily moderated you can't even look at someone funny without being slapped on the wrists, I really like the way MNHQ treat us like adults but step in when needed)
