...a SHOPPING TROLLEY

A new supermarket has opened about 5 mins walk from our house and it seems like the eco thing to do.

Dh is mortified

Got it from Lakeland in Paul Smith-styley stripes (or so I'm trying to kid myself)

OMG middle age has arrived...

I have been contemplating one as well.

I was quite taken with this one which I came across while researching bikes.

However, i have a question - has anyone come across a decent looking one that has a built in seat too?

but dd1 is ASD, and will soon have to give up the buggy (she's 4.8). she is reasonably good around shops, but it would be really handy if I could have a seat to pop her onto if necessary, sort of like her Safe Space iyswim. Have found mobility aids which would do this, but they are not so portable...

itchyandscratchy · 07/04/2009 17:33

Oh my life - that link! I never knew things like that existed!!

I vote we request a Trolley Topic soon if things carry on like this.

(Sorry silverfrog, no idea baout Trolley-Seat contraption - bet there's one somewhere though)

Oh I'm deffo a wheels kinda gal... and now that DD is outgrowing her pram I have already invested in suitably flowered trolley - it rocks! (well not literally, it glides along very smoothly.)

I took it shopping with my (slightly) younger (much) trendier child-free friends the other day, they were mortified. Haha.

But not mortified enough to refuse my offer to put their OWN shopping into it when it got too heavy for them to carry, I noticed.

itchyandscratchy · 07/04/2009 18:37

cheek!

I'd have made a big do of watching them suffer whilst I was gliding about with my tolley

OP posts:
itchyandscratchy · 07/04/2009 18:37

or even trolley

Macdog · 07/04/2009 18:39

I'm proud of my shopping trolley

Was getting all sore juggling heavy shopping bags and dd (aged3)

I don't drive, makes sense to me

Macdog · 07/04/2009 18:41

this is mine

Vamonos · 07/04/2009 18:46

tee hee. I would have, but it would have deprived me of my smug magnanimous trolley moment.

itchyandscratchy · 07/04/2009 18:49

Tis nice, MacDog

(would do some serious pimping to it though if it were mine...)

just looked at the Bike trolley...looks well good Wouldn't be worth it for me, as I am not riding my Bike often enough...athough...would probably encourage me to cycle more

FairLadyOfMuslinCloth · 07/04/2009 19:32

How much does teh Winther/Donkey Bike trolley cost, do you know...?

MadameCastafiore · 07/04/2009 19:37

I have a big shopping trolley that I use once a week - it changes colour and design often but is always a fruit or a veg and has a little man to propel it for me.

It is called an Ocado Delivery Van.

I cannot believe you guys go out and use a shopping trolley! Do you match your birkenstocks and scarves to it?

God yes - I would have to have loads of them so they could co-ordinate with my outfits. No No No No NO!!!!!!!!!

FairLadyOfMuslinCloth · 07/04/2009 20:08

not sterotyping then, are we Madame ...

FrannyandZooey · 07/04/2009 20:17

oh i've had one for years

itchyandscratchy · 07/04/2009 21:48

No, you're right, MadameCastafiore - I should get the delivery van to drive round and drop the shopping, even though it would take longer to do that and negotiate the traffic lights than it would to walk from my front door to the new supermarket. Who gives a shit about the exhaust fumes and carbon emissions when I could be worrying about being spotted, laughed and pointed at by style gurus like your good self

Luckily, we're too common to have Ocado deliveries round our way anyhow...

Franny - what yours like?

FrannyandZooey · 07/04/2009 22:17

oh v dull
i bought a cheap one thinking i would try it out - i wasn;t sure how much use i would get out of it
several years later it is still going strong and i use it constantly - it really is invaluable especially now i have ds2 in the sling

BEAUTlFUL · 08/04/2009 13:26

My Zebra one just arrived. It is gorgeous! And roomier than my fanjo!

Seriously, it looks SO cool. Nothing at all like those granny things. This looks vv modern. Huge cool-bag bit inside, roomy side pockets, small back pocket. Folds flat.

I'm in love with it.

Macdog · 08/04/2009 15:51

LOL at roominess

FairLadyOfMuslinCloth · 08/04/2009 17:45

well one would hope that ones shopping trolley is roomier than ones fanjo...surely....

sounds very snazzy...mine is super snazzy, too...but isn't an all singing and dancing one...but than, mine only cost me just over a tenner....

MollyRogerslikeanEasterabbit · 08/04/2009 17:56

I have one - a funky Habitat one in leafy print. I also live 5 mins walk from Asda so is neccessary.

Stayingsunnygirl · 08/04/2009 18:09

I have no shops within walking distance - otherwise I'd be spending money like water at that trolley shop. I wanna be a trolley dolly like you all!

twoluvlykids · 08/04/2009 18:17

I can't wait till I'm a grown up, then I can have one too.

I know the DC's will disown me - hey, maybe it's time to get one now, after all..

I've promised them I won't get a rectangular tartan one, though!

FairLadyOfMuslinCloth · 08/04/2009 18:40

give it a few more years and there will such thing as Trolley Envy...

itchyandscratchy · 09/04/2009 15:50

Mine's going on its maiden voyage this evening.

I will let you know how many pitying envious looks I get...

OP posts:
claireybeeinmyeasterbonnet · 09/04/2009 16:07

I want one, but am too scared of ridicule

Maybe when ds is out of the buggy..although I will probably then have missed my chance to be a trendsetter.
