...a SHOPPING TROLLEY

A new supermarket has opened about 5 mins walk from our house and it seems like the eco thing to do.

Dh is mortified

Got it from Lakeland in Paul Smith-styley stripes (or so I'm trying to kid myself)

OMG middle age has arrived...

See that your porntastic link has one of those red/green tartan jobbies favoured by old ladies in plastic rain bonnets.

Good on you though!

CornishKK · 06/04/2009 14:15

Itchyandscatchy I applaud you.

And if Orla Kiely is producing one then you are ON trend, ignore the scoffers.

FairLadyOfMuslinCloth · 06/04/2009 14:20

Cherry ShoppingTrolleys are great for Slingwearere

ChairmumMiaow · 06/04/2009 15:05

I think its a great idea but I just can't bring myself to get one at 28 - even though town and the supermarket are a 15 minute walk.

At the moment I either load up with DS in the sling and get the old folks bus that goes right past my house, or go at the weekend and make DH carry all the heavy stuff , or now I have a rear facing pushchair, I load that up.

I suspect that when I no longer need to use a pushchair I might give in to what I know is probably the best idea

wilbur · 06/04/2009 15:08

I have just got home from a trundle round town with my lime green shopping trolley. It's full of all sorts of things that would be far too heavy for me to carry home in a bag. I heart my trolley, it's definitely the way forward.

babyphat · 06/04/2009 16:45

i'm going to get one, they are only about £12 on brixton market, everyone round here has one though, all the cool kids .

belcantwait · 06/04/2009 16:59

oh bugger you all (NOT LITERALLU) HAVE NOW JUST GOOGLED(sorry caps lock) orla kiely and now i really need one of her trolleys {swoon} but they are mucho dinero

itchyandscratchy · 06/04/2009 20:31

I'm quite happy to be buggered, belcantwait. It will make me seem a bit more experimental and out-there in contrast to my trolley-bearing.

this is terrible, i opened it and smirked then found myself looking at all the trolley porn then subsequently forwarding the links to my colleagues and friends

Yurtgirl · 06/04/2009 20:54

Ive got one of these Mine was about £26 incl delivery, which is fab as I use mine 4-5 days a week and have nearly worn it out in less than a year!!!

itchyandscratchy · 06/04/2009 21:06

where yurtgirl? that was a link back to MN!

Yurtgirl · 06/04/2009 21:22

Oh pants was it

try again

I have got the blue version of this from the same company - ordered Monday delivered Friday

theDreadPirateRabbits · 06/04/2009 21:47

So 5 years ago, wearing a sling, and pulling a (habitat) trolley, was I ahead of this trend or just prematurely aged?

FairLadyOfMuslinCloth · 06/04/2009 22:53

Pirate, you were a trendsetter I think

theDreadPirateRabbits · 07/04/2009 00:02

Even though the shopper is beige?

it's out, I can never post on Style and Beauty again

FairLadyOfMuslinCloth · 07/04/2009 10:52

lol ...now....we shall let that one slip...I am sure the only reason it is beige is, because there were no trendier options

Habbibu · 07/04/2009 10:56

Oh my lord. Some of those are really quite funky, and now that dd doesn't use the buggy v. much I'm beginning to think it might be a very good idea for traipsing round all the local shops - am trying to avoid supermarket. What have you DONE?!!!

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 07/04/2009 11:04

Ooh ooh ooh I know the shop with the trolley porn.

It sells EVERYTHING - tools, paint, cleaning products, crockery, you name it.

I love Barnitts - must have day-trip to York.

Habbibu · 07/04/2009 11:11

oh - so do I - have just put 2 & 2 together. Loved it when I lived in York. Plus health food shop nearby where all spices were sold loose and v. cheap.

BEAUTlFUL · 07/04/2009 12:14

DAMN YOU LOT! I just ordered the Littlewoods Zebra one, which took me about 45 minutes as I had to open an account, try to apply the £10 discount on first order, swear repeatedly as code failed to work, call up customer services, be HUNG UP ON by customer services, call customer services again, etc etc...

But never mind, I have new Zebra trolley arriving tomorrow for just £23.31.

I'm so sad, I can't wait. Even though I have no idea when I'll use it, as DS2 is still in a pram...

Habbibu · 07/04/2009 12:15

This is hilarious. can't wait to see the papers picking up on the latest MN craze...

FairLadyOfMuslinCloth · 07/04/2009 13:14

lol...although not a new craze, because I know I did a thread in the past, when I got mine first, and there were already a fair few Trolleyconverts....

mrsmaidamess · 07/04/2009 13:18

The only person in my town with a shopping trolley is the mad bird lady who heaves whole loaves of bread out for the pigeons.
